

Isabel “Chabel” Gomez, 65, of Greeley, died January 17, 2014 at The Medical Center of the Rockies, Loveland. He was born July 8, 1948 in Juan Mendoza, Chihuahua, Mexico to Catalino and Fidencia (Chapa) Gomez.
Chabel married Ramona Ruiz on June 24, 1967 in Huejotitan, Chihuahua, Mexico. He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. The family moved to the United States in 1970 settling in Wilmington, California. They moved to Evans in 1993.
Chabel worked in farming most of his life. He could do many things including playing the cello in bands and selling jewelry. Chabel enjoyed gardening and taking friends and family for coffee and doughnuts. He enjoyed playing Bingo. He was very kind and giving and would help anyone in need. His husky dog, Lobo, was his constant companion. He loved to joke with people and laugh. Above all was his love for his family.
Chabel is survived by his wife Ramona of Greeley; daughter Brenda Gomez (Tyler Simms) of Greeley; Godson Mario Lopez and Goddaughter Blanca Lopez both of Evans; sisters Petra Pacheco of Greeley, Elva Leal (Delfino Chavira), Oralia Leal and Socorro Leal all of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico; brothers Valentin Leal (Maria), Geronimo Tapia and Armando Leal all of Greeley. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Anna Mendoza and two brothers Manuel Leal and Chito Gomez.
Friends may visit from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 22 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will take place at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
