

Jacquelyn Jean Larsen Buckert was born in 1931 to Marjorie and Rhule R. Larsen in Powell, Wyoming. She attended schools in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and Shoshoni, Wyoming. She attended the Univ. of Wyoming, Univ. of Idaho and Univ. of Denver where she received her RN Degree. She later attended Park College in Kansas City receiving her Masters degree in Social Psychology. She began her career as an RN at the Univ. of Idaho, Seripps in La Jolla, CA and for an OBGYN and Pediatrician in Moscow, Idaho. Upon moving to Independence, MO she was a nursing supervisor at the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital for 27 years. Upon her retirement, in 1995 the family moved to Estes Park, where she continued her career as an RN working at the Estes Park Medical Center for 4 ½ years. Following this they purchased the Brass Junction that was located in the Church Shops and operated this for 6 years. Jacquie married the love of her life, Kennith C. Buckert in 1952 in Sandpoint, ID and had 4 children together. While Ken served 4 years in the Navy during the Korean War, they were separated. Jacquie was active in many civic organizations such as Jaycee Wives, member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, helped organize the Independence, MO Welcome Wagon, was active in the University Wives, was a Sunday School teacher, Acolyte Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout leader, sang in various church choirs including the Community Church of the Rockies, a member of the Estes Park Chorale, was a Deacon in several Presbyterian Churches, participated in the Estes Park Rodeo Committee, Friday Nighters Dance Club and Quota Clubs in Estes Park, was a volunteer in Rocky Mountain National Park and for the Ambassadors for the City volunteering at the Visitors’s Center. She enjoyed many different hobbies that included writing, gardening, hiking, crocheting, reading, but her main hobby was interacting with her family and hosting family gatherings. Survivors include her husband, Kennith Buckert, sons Kevin Buckert (Linda), Kelly Buckert (Deb), daughters Kristy Anderson (Pat), Kenna Pittman; grandchildren Quetonia Finch (Chris), Colleen Buckert, Sean Anderson (Kim), Stacy Peterson (Zac), Erica Jensen (Derek), Jaiden Buckert; and eight great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 28th at 3:00 pm at the Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies, Estes Park. As we celebrate Jacquie’s life, she was not a fan of black and would love it if you wore something red.
