James Richard Fladung, 63 of Ault, CO, died in Ault on Monday, April 6, 2020. James was born July 25, 1956 in Buckeye, CO, to Paul Albert and Anne Rose (Beeman) Fladung. He married Jill Ann Armstrong on October 10, 1986 in Ault.
James graduated from Highland High School and went on to attend UNC on a wrestling scholarship. He was an All State wrestler and played football and baseball, and was also appointed to the Air Force Academy. He went on to works a Lowe’s, was the Mayor and Town Board Member in Ault, and an EMT Firefighter for the Ault/Pierce fire department. He worked in maintenance for Cherry Creek School district and then at Highlands School. He very much enjoyed his time with the schools.
James was a jokester and loved a good joke or prank. He tried to have a new joke every day. He had a brilliant mind and was very knowledgeable. He was a good friend, loved woodworking, hunting, and his beloved animals.
James is survived by his wife, Jill; son Robert Fladung, brother Thomas Paul; sisters Mary Elaine Fladung, and Rosanne Friedman (Berry); as well as his nieces and nephews, Sadie Timejardine, Rebecca Gardner, Rachel Waxweler and Julie Bowden, Rich Pryor, Jana Schott, James Thomas Fladung, Maya Freidman and Micah Friedman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Joseph and Edward Albert Fladung; and sisters Katherine Louise Buskohl and Harriett Joanne (Morris) Gardner.
