Mr. Gilbert...we lost contact for many years, yet you and your family where in my thoughts daily.  I came across this Tribute page to you and my hart fell.  You treated me with respect and trusted me with your families safety when I was a young man.  I cherish all the times you welcomed me into your home and thank you for our time together. Dad We miss you so much . There is not a day that goes by that I shed tears hoping I would wake up to this bad dream. The day you took your last breath  was the day a part of me died with you. I know you are in peace and up in heaven with our amazing family who have crossed over. I also know you will always be our protector . God gave me the best father ever...you are our Hero and our best friend. You are the strongest and bravest person I have ever known. You fought one hell of a battle trying to beat Cancer  It may of took you away from us but I will fight and be your voice to find a CURE !!!!   If I had one wish..  Dad not a day or minute goes by that I do not think of you. Every time in call mom I keep praying that you will answer the phone that this is all a big horrible dream! My heart is broken! Rest easy dad. Love you with all my heart! XOXO

We have known Jim and Ria for almost 48 years.  It seems so surreal to be saying goodbye. We wish, for the family, peace. We will always remember Jim when we think of Colorado or Estes Park or Blackhawk. We were so lucky to have him for a friend all these years.

Jim you been our Neighbors for 18 years. We had the best 18 years ever. A lot of good food and laugh. We have great  Christmas eve partys,Fourth of July party and many more. You wacthed my kids grow up Kaitlyn four years old, Joseph was one, you were like their grandparents. The summers were the best! We had a lot of laughs and cryes.
The summer of 2012 we want to forget!! Joe saying I love you man!! We know we're that came from. You laugh every time he said it. You, Ria, Joe  and I setting in the back yard having  dessert  listening to our music. You and I  playing on the Kendall and iPad or our phones!!  Ria and Joe  would say will you to put those things away!  You will be missed very very much!! Rest in peace. We Love you, Cindy Joe Kaitlyn and Joseph

Jim you was my best neighbor i ever had , we shared everything, we had good times and bad times, but we were therfot ech other , you and ria take care of my kids when i  was sick, we helped each other withe the kids , my heart brook when you moved to the states because you were such good friends , jim you are a amazing, great and loving man  , we gonna miss you , and we love you ,

When you lived in Holland we were neighbors.. You became such good friends with my parents.. Saw each other Every day and had so much fun.. We never had such good friends and neighbors again. Jim you were a great and such loving man your gonna be missed. We love you!

Dad you were the best man ever.  Thank you for all the patience you had with me when I moved from the American school on Shape to the international school in Eindhoven.  It was a big change and very stressful.  You spent many late nights with me while I finished my homework and you never complained.  A part of me died with you and my heart is aching.  I know you are in a good place and it will heal in time.  Thank you very much for being my hero and and  angel.  Xxxxxoooo
