James married Elise in San Diego. After her death, he married Lorri Day on July 4, 1984 in Silver Falls State Park, Oregon. They later divorced. He married Judy Ann Wooldridge on July 10, 2009 in Pasadena, California.
James had a passion for playing the drums, which he learned to play at a young age. He traveled with his band, playing in California, Louisiana, the southern states and New York. When he was 21 years old, he attended nursing school in San Diego and worked for 36 years as an RN in Alzheimer’s care.
James loved reading, studying ancestry and genealogy. He was a wonderful and kind man.
James is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Makayla Griffith of Fort Collins; two sons, Dustin Day-Griffith of Colorado Springs and Dakota Griffith (fiancée, Molly Swanson) of Denver; brothers, David Griffith (Shirley) of Burbank, California and Ed Griffith (Flor) of Reno, Nevada and a grandson, Ethyn Dominic Day-Griffith.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nichole Taylor.
