He joined the Air Force March 1, 1961 to Feb 1,1965. He was stationed in Japan and Okinawa. He did Morse code while in the Air Force.
He was employed by Ampex in Colorado Springs for about 20 years. Jim was an inspector while working at Ampex.
He is survived by his faithful wife Betty Harting; children Jason Harting (Debbie- spouse), Matthew Harting (Suzy- spouse), and Susan Harting; grandchildren Nicolas Harting, Katelyn Harting, Denton Harting, Brianna Harting, Kiana Harting, Kensington Harting, Kadynne Harting, Keagan Harting; siblings Jerry Harting, Pat Powers, Bill Harting.
Was preceded in death by his parents Reinhart and Magdalene Schopler Harting, his brothers Ray Harting, Robert Harting, and Richard Harting.
Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, and gardening especially in Colorado. He loved college football and especially the Ohio State Buckeyes. He married on April 12th 1969. Moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in May 1973.
