Jane E. Wisdom was born Evelyn Jane Currier on February 11, 1945 in Auburn, Washington to Leroy and Evelyn Viola Currier. After her father’s death when Jane was ten, her family moved to Blue Springs, Nebraska. She lived with her mother, step-father (Fred Baker) and little sister (Jean) and quickly assimilated to her new surroundings. Vivacious and fun-loving, Jane was a natural fit as a cheerleader. She caught the eye of a young football player and soon they were dating. Jane married Lonnie Allen Pressnall in 1961 and they welcomed their son, Lonn Anthony (Tony) to the world in November. In December of 1962 Tony was joined by a little sister, Brenda Jane.
The family moved to Peru, Nebraska, and then Champaign-Urbana, Illinois as Lonn Sr. pursued his studies. In the late sixties they made their way to ISU in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. Jane worked as a telephone operator and an administrative assistant on campus. While she and Lonn Sr. eventually divorced, Jane met her husband and life partner of nearly fifty years, Paul Wisdom. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Jane moved her kids east to the York, Pennsylvania area and raised them as a single mother. She worked full time as a secretary in a legal office and always juggled one or two other jobs to make ends meet.
By the early seventies Jane dove into life with Paul when they bought a ‘fixer upper’ in north Baltimore. Between caring for her kids, renovating a house and embarking on a new marriage, Jane landed a job as a secretary at Hochschild Kohn in downtown Baltimore. They enjoyed vacations in the western part of the U.S., Florida, and Canada, but life served up challenges. Just as their house was taking shape and looking good it was gutted by a fire. Around this time her daughter was hospitalized for a month and confined to a body cast for six months. Jane had just begun a new venture as a real estate agent (something she seemed born to excel at) and broke records for sales even as she worked out of her daughter’s hospital room. With Paul's skill as a builder and Jane's talents for decorating they left Baltimore behind, moved to Towson and built a gorgeous Colorado style home on a wooded lot in Maryland.
Paul's career took them to many beautiful locations, and Jane decorated each house to make it their home and made friends for life everywhere they went. First was Easton, PA where through Morie they discovered their love of Cairn Terriers. Then off to Fort Collins, where they had a town home, but spent as much time as they could at their Glacier View mountain home- feeding deer and enjoying hot tub views of the stars. Then a big change to the south east in Melbourne, Florida where they enjoyed a home with a pool. Everywhere they went, Jane enjoyed bird watching and wildlife spotting with Paul.
Retirement, did not slow Jane's wanderlust and love of buying, fixing-up, and selling homes. They lived in Hamilton, Montana, Dolores in southwestern, Colorado, Cedaredge on Colorado's Grand Mesa, and finally back to the front range in Loveland, Colorado, where they were closer to family. During these years there were many staples in a happy life- after losing Morie, another Cairn Terrier named Reddi became a canine companion. He had a huge vocabulary and great eyes, so was very aware of tv commercials. Later he was joined by Gina and when Reddi passed, they brought her a companion to ease her grief in a rambunctious puppy named, Mars. They also enjoyed taking the kids and grandkids fishing, wildlife spotting and generally sharing their love of mountain beauty. Jane developed as an artist and brought joy to people with custom portraits that keep alive memories of childhoods, beloved pets, and favorite places.
Preceded in death by father Leroy Currier, mother Evelyn Babylon Waldron Currier Baker Bartels Axford , brother John Waldron, brother Chuck Waldron.
