

The Good Shepherd recognized a sheep of His own flock and welcomed her into his arms when Estes Park resident Jan Ludlum, died at Medical Center of the Rockies on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. She was 88 years old. Janet Louise Willcox was born February 3, 1929 in Columbus, OH. Her parents were Russell S. and Thelma E. (Highley) Willcox. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Administration at Ohio State University. She was a librarian at Ohio State; University City Library in Missouri and the Kent Free Library in Kent, OH. On September 17, 1949, she married Robert E. Ludlum in Columbus, OH. The couple lived in Ohio: Columbus, Springfield, Galipolis & Kent; in University City, Missouri and in Cheshire, Connecticut. In 1994, they moved to Estes Park, CO where they were involved in their church and community. Jan was a member of Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies, serving on the boards of Deacons and Presbyterian Women. She was a volunteer at Rocky Mountain National Park as a Visitor’s Center information agent and in the Elk Bugle Corps. She was a member of PEO, Chapter AV. Jan is survived by her husband, Rob of Estes Park; her cousin, Bobi O’Loughlin (John) of Berthout, CO; nephews, in Columbus OH: John Thomas Ludlum (Cindi); Daniel Spencer Ludlum (Mary); James Robert Ludlum (Laurie) and great nephew: Stephen Christian Ludlum (Heziel) of Louisville KY; and many dear friends & neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy Gardner; her brother-in-law, Thomas Spencer Ludlum, her sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Shonting Ludlum and Dorothy Devendorf Syme Ludlum; and great nephew, David Spencer Ludlum. A memorial service will be held at Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies at a later date, Rev. Michael Moore presiding.
