Janet Sue Rothe, 75 of Greeley, Colorado passed away at Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley on December 23, 2018 after a long and courageous battle related to heart problems. Janet was born February 14, 1943 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Dale and Madeline (Miller) Maupin.
Janet grew up in St. Joseph, had a short stay in New Mexico, then moved to Amarillo where she graduated from Tascosa High School. She went on to graduate from Texas Tech in 1965 where she majored in home economics. Her degree led her to Colorado where she became the Douglas County Home Extension Agent... and met Alvie.
Married to Alvie Rothe on April 1, 1967 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Greeley, Alvie and Janet lived in Greeley where she worked in retail at Joslins/Dillards. In 1968 their first son Tracy Rothe was born and then Joel Rothe in 1973.
Janet was a loving, caring and giving Christian woman. She led by example and lived her life as a role model for her church family as well as many in the community. Her love for Jesus was a beacon and abundantly visible each and every day of her life. A truer friend could not be found. Although she will be missed tremendously, we rejoice that she is no longer in pain and discomfort.
Janet is survived by her husband Alvie, Greeley; sons Tracy (Marci) and Joel (Hope), Longmont; sisters Trudy Maupin and Julie (Phil) Huffman, Amarillo; sister-in-law Connie (Rothe) VanHorn, Fort Collins; “family adopted brother” David (Linda) Drollinger, Missouri. She also has four grandchildren, Brody, Cooper, Payton, and Braylon Rothe.
Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Greeley, January 4, 2019 at 11:30 followed by a luncheon downstairs.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran School Scholarship Fund or
Colorado Holstein Scholarship Fund in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th St. Greeley, CO 80631.
