Janice was born on October 31, 1941, in Sibley, Iowa, to John and Esther Christians. She was raised near Little Rock, Iowa, and graduated from Little Rock High School.
Janice devoted much of her life to caring for her family as a loving wife and mother. She was a stay-at-home mother to her four children until her youngest daughter, Jerri, began school. She then worked as a teacher’s aide and later as a senior teller at First Bank, where she was known for her kindness, integrity, and strong work ethic. Janice also helped her husband refurbish, collect, and resell tools at auctions and flea markets. In retirement, Janice volunteered with Senior Net, assisting seniors with computer use in assisted living facilities. Janice enjoyed helping other seniors and sharing stories along the way; she made many new acquaintances along this path.
Janice was a dedicated servant of God, living her life guided by faith, compassion, kindness, and love. She was recognized for her gentle nature, honesty, and devotion to her family and loved ones. Janice enjoyed playing bunko with friends, going on cruises with her husband, and most of all, spending quality time with her family. Don and Janice could frequently be found at a local Wendy’s with their grandchildren, sharing a meal and cold Frosty treats.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, John and Esther Christians; her brother, John (Eileen) Christians; her husband, Donald Schilling; her sons, Dave and Mike Schilling; her daughter-in-law, Susan Schilling; and her grandson, Jared Akins.

God's Garden
God looked around his garden
and he found an empty place.
And then he looked down upon the earth
and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you,
and lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He knew you were suffering,
he knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough,
and the hills were hard to climb,
so he closed your weary eyelids,
and whispered, "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you didn't go alone,
for part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.
