

2022. Jeanne was born December 4, 1930 to Clyde and Mable Lane in Perryton TX.
After Jeanne graduated from Forgan Oklahoma High School she attended Panhandle
State University. During her 1st year she met Merle Thurman. Merle heavily pursued
Jeanne until she agreed to a date. From that day on, they were never separated.
Merle and Jeanne were married January 15, 1950 in Forgan, OK.
Jeanne followed Merle on his first teaching positions through Texas and Oklahoma.
They found their paradise on a few acres in Aztec, NM. Jeanne resided in the family
home for 60 years.
Jeanne was a talented seamstress, making dresses, shirts and quilts for family and
friends. She loved gardening, canning, tatting, painting, ceramics, card making and
loved to share her love of the southwest with her many friends and family who came to
visit. When her grandchildren came for a visit, she was the person to organize the fun;
games, cooking lessons, singing and playing the piano. She babysat many children
who remained lifelong friends.
Jeanne was a faithful daughter of Christ. She hosted traveling missionaries, taught
Sunday school, played organ and piano for many years. She played at Good Sam
nursing home, La Plata Baptist Church and as well at her home church, First Baptist
Church of Aztec. As she aged, she continued to enjoy sharing her love of music with
all.
Jeanne is survived by her children Paul (Kathy), Tularosa NM, David (Laurie), Greeley
CO, Arlenna, Redwood Valley CA, Kendall (Christy), Windsor CO. Jeanne has 8
grandchildren who she loved with all her heart, Eric, Tanya, Ben, Ashley, Joshua, Corey,
Tyler and Brandi. She has 11 great grandchildren with one on the way.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her loving husband, Merle (2003), by her parents
Clyde and Mabel, her brothers Duff and Gail and her only sister, Virginia.
A memorial service will be held March 25, 2022 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church,
700 Navajo Ave, Aztec, NM.
