Jerry (Gerald) D. Hettinger

Jerry “Gerald” Dwayne Hettinger, of Greeley, passed on August 2, 2024 at his home residence surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on January 21, 1950 to Herold and Betty (Adler) Hettinger in Greeley.

Jerry started school at La Grange in Greeley and graduated from Windsor High School. Jerry lived a life of serving others, he was firefighter for the city of Evans, served as the Evans Fire Chief, and the Mayor of Evans. He was a paramedic for Weld County for many years. Most recently he drove a truck for Nelson Contracting Services. He was a man of faith and he loved the Lord, he served in ministry for over 25 years with In Motion Ministries Inc. and Overland Missions. Jerry served on the Board of Directors for Dayspring Christian Schools, the Weld County 4H Club as well as numerous other organizations.

He was a loving and kind man, he always thought of others first. He had a big heart and knew how to make people smile even in the toughest of situations. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, he never missed the opportunity to support them. His favorite past time was sitting on the porch with his wife and enjoying the mountains with loved ones.

Jerry is survived by his current wife, Debbie Hettinger, his sons, Jeramy (Lisa) Hettinger, Jason (Tiffany) Hettinger, grandchildren, Gavin, Grace, Avery, Quaid, Ryan, Sarah, and Kensington Hettinger, siblings, Bruce (Melanie) Hettinger, Robin (Craig) Zimmerman, and joined family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his late wife of 53 years, Jeanne Hettinger, son, Jeffrey Hettinger, and his parents, Herold and Betty.

A celebration of life for Jerry will be held Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Zoe's Cafe, the Bel Air Entrance, 711 10th St, Greeley, CO 80631.
