Joan Marie Milne

Joan was born on February 8, 1938, in Greeley to Carl and Lydia Estreich and remained a lifelong resident of the city she loved. She graduated from Greeley High School in 1956 and married James Grant Milne III on March 24, 1958. The two shared a devoted life together until Grant's passing in 2007.

During their early years, Joan rode a Victory Ship to and from Guam to be with her husband while he served in the Navy—an experience that reflected both her adventurous spirit and deep commitment to her husband. After returning from service in 1959, they began raising their family in Greeley.

Joan was a proud member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter BE. She had a wide range of passions: she loved music and bingo, visiting with friends and family, and collecting teddy bears. Joan and Grant also enjoyed showing antique cars together, a shared pastime that brought them great joy. In later years, she found peace and creativity through coloring. But above all, Joan was an avid reader—books were her greatest joy and constant companion throughout her life.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Grant Milne III; her parents, Carl and Lydia Estreich; her brothers, Carl Ernest Estreich Jr. and Henry Estreich; and her daughter-in-law, Chris Milne.

Joan is survived by her children, James Grant Milne IV (Dawn), Warren Milne (Tammy), and Dana Schlitter (Tom); her grandchildren, Andrea (Brad) Ulrich, Katie (Rick) Schmunk, Breann (Jeff) Chrisp, Lacy (Ryan) Milne/Domesla, Troy (Tracy) Lee, Justin (Shannon) Lee, Nick (Jessica) Schrader, and Sage (Jaimie Moya) Schrader.

A celebration of life for Joan will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Allnutt Funeral Service, Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street, Greeley, CO 80634, followed by a reception from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
