John was born on May 17, 1945, in Greeley, Colorado, to Mary and Pablo Romero. A resident of Longmont, he was originally from Greeley, Colorado, where he grew up with his family, attended high school and college, and met his wife. John was the youngest of five children and is survived by one sister, Mary Lou Villa. He was preceded in death by his siblings Joe Romero, Jane Martinez, and Helen Ochoa.
He married Angelita (Angie) on April 29, 1967, and together they shared more than 58 years of marriage, raising two daughters: Meredith Reider and Kellie Stark (Whitney Stark). His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he was a faithful source of love and support in their lives. John was the beloved grandfather of four grandchildren, who called him "Pop" —Cassandra Reider, Mitchell Stark, Rickey Reider, and Lauren Stark—and one great-granddaughter, Eleanor Rose Romero, all of whom he loved very much.
John loved to watch sports, especially the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. However, he was a talented athlete in his own right and even received a scholarship to play football in college. A hard-working man, John retired after 20 years working in the electronics industry, bringing strength, support and steady love to all who knew him.
John was a wonderful and devoted son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, husband, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend. Most of all, he was a good man who will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy lives on in his family, friends, and in the memories he created with all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at Stoddard Funeral Home on Thursday, September 4th at 2:00 PM, with a reception to follow. The funeral home is located at 3205 W 28th St, Greeley, CO 80634. The family extends their appreciation and gratitude to all their family and friends for your prayers, generosity, friendship, compassion, and love through this difficult time in their lives.
