

Johnny Ray Sanders ,78, of Nunn, CO passed away on May 11th, 2026 comfortably in his home. He was born on September 23rd, 1947 to Doris Grizzle and Bobby Sanders. He was born in Texas but also lived in Colorado, Texas, and Florida.
Johnny had many occupations throughout his years including Bus driving, Working at a bottling plant, Created and sold wood crafts, Pond building, Security, Construction with his brother Ricky Sanders, and was enlisted in the United States Army. (Vietnam war from 1968-1969) During the war he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, The Vietnam Campaign Medal With Device, and The Expert Rifle Marksmanship Award.
He had a love for Planes, The Army, His grandchildren, and his dogs. He also loved gardening, Fishing, Collecting, Wood-working, technology, and had a life-long love of learning.Johnny was very creative and a big softie!
Johnny Ray is survived by his Children. Ann-Margaret Sanders (and children), Johnny Jr. Sanders (and children), Jonnie Renee Sanders, Cherrie Sanders (and children), Melissa Armstrong (and children), Juan Gonzales (and children), and Jake Sanders (Teresa and children). His siblings, Gary Sanders (Kelly), Ricky Sanders (Heather), Terry Hill, Laura Hill Dodson (Derek), and Dennis Hill. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris Grizzle and Bobby Sanders, and his beloved wife of 25 years, Snookie Sanders. He was loved by many and will be missed dearly. Johnny Ray will be laid to rest with his wife in the Cheyenne National Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Stoddard Funeral Home on May 19, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. with the military service and burial to follow at Cheyenne National Cemetery..
