She was born August 28, 1927 in Loveland to Jacob and Christina Kitzmann. She had 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Juanita had a very active life. She loved playing Pinochle, Bingo, slot machines (Flaming 7’s were her favorite). She bowled on Monday and Thursday leagues with her daughter Frog for the past 5 years, and loved going to the senior dances, fishing, being involved with the Boy Scout Troop 186, making tin can chairs, traveling to Laughlin, Nevada and on road trips.
Her husband Willis Honebein was her best friend and the father of their four sons, Jerry “Jake” (Gail), Ed (Cindy), Bob, Bill (Donna) and one daughter, Frog (Doc) Marshall.
She was a daycare mother for many years, raising many kids and loving them as her own. The parents loved her and she treated them all like family. Sometimes she would invite them for supper after their long days at work.
She met Harold Cowan at a senior dance and they were married in 1990. They enjoyed retirement and traveled to the Bahamas on their Honeymoon. They took road trips to California and Montana, taking her sister Flora along with them. There was a bumper sticker on his car that said “SENIORS ON THE MOVE!” They took their grandkids fishing on their boat, played games and enjoyed every day they had together. He has been waiting for her to join him since 1999.
She met Sam Marcy in 2001 and he took her to the dances. They loved to dress up for the New Years, Valentines, and Halloween dances, one time going as the Lone Rancher and Tonya. They were "King and Queen" of many Senior Prom dances, and she treasured his friendship very much.
She had friends from all over the world, Switzerland, Israel, Japan and Germany to name a few. In 2001, Karin and Markus Muentener sent her a ticket to go see them along with Frog, Doc, Tom and Jim in Switzerland. She met many people and touched everyone with her love.
Juanita was also up to date in the technology world with a computer, Facebook and a cell phone, so she could communicate. She loved to play Freecell and played over 10,000 games starting with #1 and solving each one of them before playing the next one.
Juanita loved taking road trips with her daughter Frog during the past 10 years to Montana to see her granddaughter, Christy and her family. The biggest road trip was 2 years ago with Frog, when they took off in the Frogmobile and they headed to Las Vegas, Southern California, up the coast highway to Oregon, Washington, over through Idaho, Montana and down through Yellowstone. They were on the road for 22 days. She got to see her grandchildren and meet her great grandchildren, and see lots of relatives and friends.
She also cooked for the Hawg Wild Motorcycle Show and Swap Meets, twice a year. She made the best roast beef and chili. Everything was made from scratch and only the best ingredients were used. She had 2 kitchens. It was a lot of hard work but she always enjoyed being active and visiting the people that came back twice a year to buy breakfast, lunch, or snacks from her.
She is survived by 4 sons, Ed, Jake, Bob, Bill and her daughter, Frog and their spouses. 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, many friends and a large extended family.
She will be met in Heaven by both husbands, Willis Honebein, Harold Cowan, 3 brothers, 3 sisters and a grandson, Tom Marshall, that will be playing his fiddle and giving her a ride on his Harley. She will also be reunited with many friends and relatives.
