Judith Ann Gray (Judy) Van Egdom, of Greeley, CO. passed away at home on March 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 22, 1946, in Kansas City, MO. to Herbert and Thelma (Ellis) Gray, growing up as an only child. She graduated in 1964 from Southeast High School in Kansas City, and from York College in York, NE, in 1966, which is where she met the love of her life, Larry. While Larry was called up by the Army to serve in Vietnam, Judy returned to Kansas City and worked for Russell Stover Candies, before the two married in August, 1968. Returning to York, Judy worked for the college until the birth of her first child in August, 1970. The couple relocated to Greeley, CO in March, 1977, growing roots in the community for the past four decades. Judy furthered her education and obtained a Master of Arts in Prof Psych/Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado in 1986, as a mother of four children, and began her long-standing private counseling practice. Judy was also a skilled adoption caseworker of many years with Colorado Christian Services and later Lutheran Family Services. The last arm of her career was spent as the Executive Director of Eldergarden Adult DayCare in Greeley, a role she delighted in until her retirement in 2016. After retirement Judy also served as a volunteer with Pathways, ministering to shut-ins, and with Generations Wesleyan Church.
Judy spent her life devoted to her family, and had a special affinity of always welcoming others with her hospitable Christian spirit. She was a member of Generations Wesleyan Church and enjoyed singing with the church choir and being a part of theatrical productions. Upon becoming empty-nesters, Judy & Larry became avid travelers, indulging their love of trips both near and far in their RV, and multiple memorable vacations to Hawaii and other warm winter locales.
Judy is survived by her husband of 55 years Larry Van Egdom; four children, daughters Suzi (Chris) Buggeln and Jennifer (Ty) Fuller of Greeley; son Robert Van Egdom of North Richland Hills, TX; and son Jeff (Dana) Van Egdom of Alamo, CA; grandchildren Brandon (Katie) Buggeln, Brady (Katelyn) Buggeln, Brenden, Derrek, Liam (Sarah) and Kendall Fuller; Owen, Addison, and Weston Van Egdom; and great grandchildren Kohen and Baylor Buggeln.
