October 16, 1962 ~ December 20, 2011
Julie Ann Meis of Kersey died Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Hospice of North Colorado after a courageous 2 ½ year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born October 16, 1962 to Virgil and Darlene (Carey) Maag. She was the third of three children.
Julie graduated from Platte Valley High School in Kersey in 1980, and was active in planning the 30th year class reunion last summer.
Julie began work as a waitress at the Golden Corral, and later transferred her food service to the hospital. She then worked for State Farm Insurance as a data entry processer for the past 14 years.
Julie married Frank Joseph Meis on April 21, 1990 at the Kersey Community Church. They celebrated their 20th Wedding Anniversary with the renewal of their vows on April 21, 2011.
Julie was a member of Kersey Community Church.
Julie enjoyed weekends in Estes Park, trips to Las Vegas and recently a gift of an Alaskan Cruise from her folks was taken in the company of her family. Her lifelong dream of a trip to Hawaii with Frank and the boys was fulfilled in October of this year. Celebrating the high school graduation of Derrick last year and the realization of Brandon achieving his driver’s license this year were only two of many events she was able to participate in with her sons.
In the hearts of her friends and loved ones, we will miss the kindness, loyalty, gentleness, the brilliant smiles and the never ending love that defined Julie Ann Meis.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Frank; sons, Derrick and Brandon Meis all of Kersey; father Virgil of Windsor; mother, Darlene of Greeley; sister Debbie (Bob) Hein of Pierce and brother, Rick (Barbara) Maag of Greeley; in-laws, Karen Meis and Vernon Crandall of Kersey; sister-in-law, Vicki Jo Highfield of Vandergrift, Pennsylvania; a nephew, a niece, and their children. She is also survived by several cousins, aunts, and uncles.
