Originally from Rhode Island, she attended Smoky Hill High School in Aurora, Colorado. Karen married Steve James Schroeder Sr. in August of 1988. In their early years Karen and Steve enjoyed riding motorcycles and going to concerts. As they grew together as a family, Karen received the ultimate gift, she was going to be a mother. Karen’s spare time was dedicated to her family and her children’s school and sporting activities.
After her children were grown and off on their own, Karen’s dedication turned to her job at JBS and working on the family farm. Working in the garden and canning were her favorite activities. She also would not let a week go by without cooking Sunday dinner for her son. Earlier this year, the biggest miracle of life happened, Karen became a grandmother to a beautiful granddaughter, Amira. It was a dream come true!
She is survived by her husband, Steve, her daughter, Nicole Silver Lee Schroeder, her son, Steve James Schroeder Jr., her mother, Diane, and a sister, Dawn Klein and a brother, George (Jenn) Nassraway III.
She is preceded in death by her father, George, and her grandparents, George Sr. and Grace Nassraway and Albert and Dorothy Proulx.
A graveside service will be held at Linn Grove Cemetery on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
