Kathryn Ann “Sally” Meyer (née O’Keefe), age 88, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, in Greeley, Colorado. Born on July 25, 1937, in Valentine, Nebraska, she lived a full and vibrant life marked by resilience, intelligence, and devotion to her family.
Sally grew up in the Sandhills on a ranch near Valentine, where she spent cherished time with her father and developed a lifelong love for animals—especially her beloved horse Trixie. Her career began working as a bank teller while still a high school senior. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Robert Meyer, through the bank’s drive-through window. She graduated from Valentine High School in 1955.
After marrying Robert Meyer, Sally dedicated many years to raising their family as a homemaker. Later, she returned to the workforce with renewed purpose and skill. Her career included positions in banking in Fremont, Nebraska and Denver, Colorado; various secretarial roles; and ultimately work as a medical transcriptionist at the Lincoln Regional Center. In the 1990s, Sally furthered her education by attending the Lincoln School of Commerce.
Sally’s sharp mind and quick wit were matched by an extraordinary memory and meticulous attention to detail. She was known for taking careful notes and creating scrapbooks—preserving memories with care and creativity. A lover of current events and music, she also played piano and found joy in travel throughout her life. Sally dearly loved her cats, which she had continuously from 1971 until the death of her beloved Mitzy in 2025.
Her faith was rooted in the Roman Catholic Church, though she also drew strength from inspirational books, quotes, plaques, and Al-Anon teachings. These sources of wisdom helped guide her through life’s challenges with grace and independence.
Sally deeply loved her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Barbara Aeschliman; son Mark Meyer (Del Milander); daughter Kathy Azari (Doran Azari); grandson Anthony Azari (Sarah Lopez); granddaughter Madeline Azari; two nephews Travis and Justin Aeschliman and niece Dede Aeschliman.
She was preceded in death by her parents Doris and Alexander O’Keefe; her first husband Robert Meyer; and her third husband Robert Zimmerman.
A woman of strength who embraced both tradition and change, Sally will be remembered for her independent spirit, love of animals—especially cats—and enduring affection for those closest to her. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
There will be no funeral, but cards and condolences can be sent to either
