Kay Arlene Nielsen

Kay was born in Ault, Colorado on January 25, 1944 to Arlo “Spiv” and Bertha (Evans) Stevens. Kay graduated from College High School in 1962, and married Tom Nielsen on December 17, 1965 in Greeley, Colorado. Kay worked as a receptionist for the DMV, Valley Fire, and My Friends and Me Learning Center in La Salle. She also served as a homemaker for her family.

Kay was a big Broncos fan, and also enjoyed bowling, scrapbooking, shopping, walking, and those Vegas slots. She was a dedicated grandma – any activity that her grandchildren were involved in, from musicals, football, basketball, volleyball, or even mutton-busting - Kay was there for them. She was a stabilizing force in the family, and loved “Friday Family Night”, everything to do with Christmas, and made a mean macaroni and cheese.

Kay is survived by her husband, Tom; her son Dave (Tonya) Nielsen; daughter Kellie (Shane) Ridings; and grandchildren, Reba (Adam) Kerr, Cheyanne and Grace Nielsen, and Cassie and Addison Ridings, and Carol Totten of Joplin, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 and services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street, Greeley, CO 80634.
