Kelly Sue Langdon

January 18, 1958February 7, 2020

Kelly Schmidt Langdon, age 62 of La Salle, Colorado went to heaven with Jesus on February 7th. Mother Theresa said, “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.” Kelly Schmidt Langdon was indeed, a world-changer. And although her impact was most felt at home by her husband, Rick Langdon, and her three children - Whitney, Bailey and Riley - the ripple of Kelly’s life is felt all over the United States. Kelly had an extraordinary gift of making others feel loved and understood. Her quiet strength was deeply rooted in Jesus Christ, her best friend. And her laugh was contagious, as was her smile, her warmth and her unique ability to celebrate the big and the small.

Kelly had an unstoppable love and she was a creative genius. She radiated true happiness in her home, near a beach or just outside in nature. And she was brave - the bravest woman her family has ever known. If you could bottle up her essence, it would be a mixture of confetti and cinnamon snow cones, seashells and photos of her family, her Savior and birthday candles, good books and pistachios.

Kelly was born in La Salle, Colorado on January 18, 1958. Kelly graduated from Valley High School and received an Elementary Education Degree from the University of Northern Colorado. She was married to Rick Langdon on April 2, 1983. Beyond her career as a home-maker, friend-maker, and world-changer, she also was a school teacher at Platteville Elementary from 1981-1985.

Kelly is survived by her husband, Rick Langdon, and her three children, Whitney Langdon Putnam, Bailey Langdon Voss and Riley Langdon. She was wild about her grandchildren: Collins Cooper Putnam, Carter Lane Putnam, Connolly Grey Putnam, Emory Quinn Voss and Reagan Kyle Voss. She also loved her children’s spouses: Michael Putnam, Kyle Voss and Madison Bender Langdon. Kelly grew up with two brothers, Kevin and Darwin Schmidt, and they share very special memories while being raised on the Schmidt Dairy Farm ran by Roy and Irene Schmidt. Cindy is married to Kevin and Robin is married to Darwin.

Funeral Services will be held at Allnutt Macy Chapel 6521 West 20th Street, Greeley, CO on Saturday, February 22, 2020 from 1-3 pm. Kelly loved a jean jacket and Rick loves a sports coat. Feel free to imitate.

I met Kelly in a small Bible Study we started in San Antonio. All Reagan/Bush/Stone Oak Moms. Kelly truly embraced me and took me under her wing when I lost my beautiful daughter when she was 32 and just delivered my beautiful granddaughter, Bailey. Kelly held me in her arms and said such sweet things to me just as Jesus would have. She will forever be a part of my heart.

Kelly shared so much joy with the world. We played flute together in the VHS and VHS Alumni bands. She was always giving me tips to make me better. Those tips didn't just make me a better flute player but also a better person. RIP Kelly, you had a huge impact on many lives. Heartfelt condolences to Rick and all of Kelly's family members.
