Was very surprised to read the brief announcement about Ken.  At first, I thought it was someone else.  So sorry to see this.  Arlene, I trust you are doing OK. To the Greer Family.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.  I remember Kenny all the way back to when we were at Van Buren Elementary until we graduated from Loveland High School.  I remember his quick smile, his gentle soul and his kind heart.  May you all find peace and joy in knowing that he will be missed.

I first met Ken in high school back in 1980 over the years he was my best and at times only friend.  Ken was always willing to give of himself to help others even back in our wilder days there was something quiet and noble about him.   Often in those early days people would give him a hard time but he never let it show how much it hurt, he would just take it and walk away often having already forgiven them. This used to infuriate me I just couldn't understand why he wouldn't seem to stick up for himself more often.  It turns out that even back then Kenny knew more than I did on what it means to be a good person and what it means to to love others.  When Ken found God at first I thought it was some passing phase he was going thru like when we got into cb's for a summer but it was real and Ken lived it every single day.  Ken made sure that I also found Jesus and wanted nothing more than for everyone else to also.  He lived his life following Jesus's example every single moment from the minute he accepted the Lord till the moment he went home to him.  Ken was well is my best friend.   He was so proud of his parents.  I remember being over at his house one afternoon right out of school and we were playing video games  I had just beat him barely at pac man and he told me I couldn't beat his mom.  I laughed I mean cmon his mom??  none of our mothers even knew what pac man was let alone could beat me  lol.   Upstairs we went and challenged his mother.  Who proceeded to roll the game with her first man.  I sat there looking stupid and Kenny just smiled and laughed.  He loved his brothers even though like all brothers they had their spats at times.  I remeber the night Ken and I got invited to a party his brother Scotts friend was having.  Ken and I you realize were the nerdy kids at school and Scot and his friends were the cool kids. Ken was just so happy to have been included and bragged up both his brother and his friend that whole night.  It was a pretty good time.  I can remember the day Ken told me he was going to have a son.  Jeremy was the light in Kenny's world and he loved him like nothing else.  I know Ken was proud of his son and still is up there in heaven.  Ken had more love than I thought was possible for one man and that love went first to God then to his family then to us lucky enough to have known him.  He would drop everything to help a friend who was hurting and share the love of Jesus with them.  He was never to busy or to big on himself to not.  I remember many good times I shared or rather He shared with me.  In many ways I wish I was more like him but for years I was ""the big guy"" who just didn't get how he could take what people dealt him without ""getting even"" but gradually not because of his words but because of his example something in me broke and I realized things had turned around it was no longer me leading Kenny and showing him how to act and what to do.  No it was Ken leading me.  I had become the lesser man  I guess I always was in many ways but it took the boldness of his faith to bring the real Kenny to the surface.  I found myself at first envying him and the way people respected and treated him and then wanting to learn from him, to get whatever it is he had gotten that turned him from a mouse to a Lion of God.  Still for years I just didn't get it to much pride to much self.  It's a wonder Ken was still my friend, I tried to turn him back to the old ken the one I knew but instead he turned me to the new Vince one who I hope is a better person than the one back in high school. Well Kenny I did finally get it.  all this time I thought it was about you and me but it was really all about Jesus.  I know when I give you credit for turning my life around you give the credit to God and that is right and proper.  But remember man it was YOU and your example that opened my eyes and my heart enough to listen to that quiet still voice of our Lord. It was you and your example that led the way.

Cheryl and family of Ken.  I went to school with ""Kenny"" for many years.  It was nice to chat with him and Cheryl at our reunion last summer.  He seemed happy.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  Send you all hugs and prayers.
