It's hard to know what to say when something like this happens....this definately was a shocker just like my dad. I have many fond memories of our families ""growing up"" together and your dad giving me a hard time just like my dad would, no sympathy! I remeber telling your dad i was hungry and he'd say "" you wanna knuckle sandwich?"" or "" nice to meet you hungry i'm kent"" , only grandpa henry felt bad for and would let me out of the corner when i got in trouble (which was often!). Your dad was cool people. And the only other thing i can think of to say is that it does get a little easier each day, it takes a little time, but it does get a little better each day. Bekah, your wedding will be wonderful as was mine, just know in your heart that he is watching over you. i love you guys, and you know i'll always be here for you!

Oh, this is so difficult. I haven't seen Kent since the early 70s, but he was a fixture at our house for so many years. It seems that we're too young to die and we are.
I've never met his children, but I considered their Mom and Dad good friends as we grew up and I know that this must be so very difficult because Kent was very special. I have a picture from a LONG time ago when we were dressed up, on our way to a dance. And that's how I'll remember you Kent. You are a great guy.

Rebekah & Ryan - Something to share with you about your dad - I met your dad in the 80's, when he worked as an assistant Mgr. with Bun Boys Restaurant in Victorville.  I use to tke my coffee breaks there, when I worked for the Telephone Company.  He was a crazy guy, 
I didn't see your dad for awhile, maybe even a couple of years or so, than one day I took my coffee break at this new restaurant called the ""Grubsteke"" on 6th & ""B"", Streets,in Victorville and there he was, the owner.  This time I met your mom, and grandfather.  This place became the phone company's regular break and lunch location.  Your dad was a heck of a  chef, while your mom was the server, and your grandfather the dishwasher, and the greeter.  Many times after hours your dad would have us come back and we would play poker.  I remember one day your dad and this customer were arguing, who was faster from a starting position for a certain distance, don't remember the distance, car or man?  They went outside the restaurant, your dad barefoot on the sidewalk, and the car in the street ""B"" , your dad won $100.00.  
Do you rmeember the Van you use to have, he bought that van in Los Angeles from a dealer somewhere, but something needed to be corrected.  He ask me to go with him to Los Angeles for these corrections, we got there sometime in the early evening, they told to come back around 7:00pm to pick it up, but the place was close, and the van was in a fenced area with security dogs.  He was so mad, he had an extra pair of keys, wanted to climb the fence and run it down.  I had the hardest time to keep your from doing that, those dogs  would've ate him alive.  Finally the the security person came on his nightly rounds, and called the dealer.  The dealer came, your dad tore into him, we got the van, but got home pretty late.  
The funnisst thing, I can remember, after he sold the restaurant, he put his job applecation at theSouthwest Cement Plant.  The Human Rsources lady told him they would call him, if something became available.  The next morning he was back, they told him the samething, they would call him, your dad being the persistent person he could be, went back each day for about two weeks, finally the lady your dad said, ""looking very frustrated and exhausted"", ask him what day, would he want to start working?  I've many more little stories, but I'll only share these, he was my friend, a very special friend!

We have never met but we share the love for your daughter Rebekah. Sleep in the peace of Christ.

What can I say to give my ""buddy"" the credit he deserves for the contributions he has made in my life. There will be far too many 40's un opened, trips to the parking lot, and stories to be told. I love you and will miss you.

It was and honor to see and help his kids during this rough time. I will miss working with Kent. If you are ever in town please get in touch with us. Rebekah, god bless on your wedding day. I will miss working nights with Kent. His sweet talking a closed resturant into cooking us dinner. Morning greetings at our locker. The smooth litigation for those of us who needed representation in ""troubled"" times. Debbie you will be in our thoughts as the days pass and hope that you will call if you need anything.

To Rebekah and the Swallow family:
No one is ever prepared for the lose of a loved one, especially when it is untimely. I offer my deepest sympathy. While I never met your dad, I heard you speak of him often and in such a close and loving way. I sensed his love for you through your conversations. I am certain that he was proud of you particularly since I see in you daily all that he has instilled. Please know that in time, the pain of your lose will be eased but the memories of your life together will intensify. My prayers go out to you and your family.

Words cannot express the love that I have for this family. Kent was a friend in high school and later we had children that went to VVHS together and became good friends. Kent gave comforting advice to my son Kevin,  when he needed advice from someone other than his own parent and this advice helped Kevin to get through a difficult time in  his life.  I never thanked Kent for  being such a good friend.  Kent was always there for his friends and family. May Kent's family find comfort in knowing he was loved by many and most of all may he rest in peace until we all meet again.
