

At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy. After graduation from boot camp, he was transferred to the Philippines. Two years later he was transferred to Long Beach, California. The next year he volunteered for duty in Vietnam. At the end of his year in Vietnam, he returned to the states and was discharged in 1969.
He married Sheila Kay (Foose) Parson on September 15, 1968. After his discharge from the Navy, they returned to Greeley. On August 14, 1972 they welcomed their daughter, Debra Kay. Two years later they moved to Eaton.
In May, 1987, he re-enlisted in the Navy. After training, he was stationed to Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida. In 1989 he was assigned to Naval Air Station Cecil Field, Florida. In 1990 he was assigned to the USS Saratoga and was deployed to the Mediterranean Sea during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He did a second deployment with the USS Saratoga in 1992. In 1993, he was transferred back to NAS Cecil Field.
In 1997, he received orders to Naval Air Station Sigonella, Sicily. After he and Sheila spent 3 years there, he returned to NAS Jacksonville. In September 2000, he was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. In 2003 he returned to NAS Sigonella. In December 2004, he returned to NAS Jacksonville for his retirement.
He was an avid golfer and worked at the NAS Jacksonville golf course for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sheila; daughter, Debra Kay (Kevin) Jerome; brothers, Kim (Jeri) Brill and Gary (Pat) Parson; sister-in-law, Beverly (Frank) Slemons; brother-in-law, Dennis (Cindy) Foose; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nita Brill; step-father, Melvin Brill; sisters, Sandra Parson and Charma Goodwin; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Reuben and Esther Foose; and niece, Heidi Seely.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at Stoddard Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
