

Larimer County resident and Chiropractor, Dr. Laura Chionio recently died from complications of Type 1 Diabetes at her Fort Collins home. She was 40 years old. Laura Francesca Chionio was born October 6, 1976 in St. Louis, MO. Her parents were William and Karen (Phillips) Chionio. Laura grew up in St. Louis and made her way to Colorado by way of Albuquerque, NM. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO. She then continued her education at Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, MO, receiving a B.S. Degree in Biology plus her Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. Her practice in Colorado was in the Fort Collins-Loveland area. Laura’s family remembers her being funny, a bit mischievous, and displaying a great sense of humor as she was growing up. Her natural physical coordination enabled her to ride bikes, skate and dance from a very early age. Her creative talent in art showed in her love for crafts and her eye for decorating and fashion. Time spent with her nieces and nephews was always meaningful. She loved her nieces and nephews and always put a lot of thought and consideration into the many gifts she bought or made for them and all her family. In her spare time, Laura enjoyed traveling, learning new languages, crafts and recently, kick-boxing. She was fond of animals, especially her dog, Paco, with whom she would join Pug-Party-in-the-Park gatherings on Saturdays. Laura is survived by her parents Bill & Karen Chionio of Estes Park, a brother David Chionio and his wife Celeste of St. Louis and a sister Julie Chionio-Peden of Calhoun, GA, nieces and nephews Ava, Logan and Stella Chionio, and Luke and Addi Peden. Laura’s family will celebrate her life at a private gathering in Estes Park.
