Lee was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Gaye Anderson Morrison, his parents Sumner M. and Mary L. Morrison, a younger sister Julie Morrison Corona (Thomas) and a stepson Justin Anderson. He is survived by a sister Susan J. Morrison of Mount Pleasant, SC, stepdaughter Shawna Akin (Leland Wiesner) of North Charleston. SC, grandson Luca Anderson Cero of Mercer Island, Washington, and nephew Josh Anderson.
Lee was a graduate of Fort Collins High School where he excelled in academics, as a trumpet player in the school band and was active in Boy Scouts. He attended Colorado State University majoring in Molecular Biology and then worked in a laboratory. He had talked about becoming a lawyer since a young age and soon altered course to enter the University of Denver School of Law, receiving his J.D.. After an internship with the Joint Federal State Land Use Planning Commission in Juneau, Alaska, he worked for a time for the Colorado Sierra Club. Most of his professional career was spent as a Weld County Assistant Attorney where he specialized in environmental and health-related issues enabling him to apply his scientific and environmental expertise. He enjoyed hiking, camping and backpacking, travel, fine wine, nice restaurants, photography, attending Rockies baseball games as well as recreational baseball, their cats and spending time with his wife.
Seventeen years ago, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest which he survived as a result of CPR. However, he was left disabled and was lovingly and competently cared for by his wife. After she died in a car accident in April 2023, Lee was heartbroken and five months later he joined her. Over the years he received physical and occupational therapy and medical care from numerous caregivers in northeastern Colorado; they often said he was one of their favorite patients. He especially enjoyed hippotherapy and the horses but was very appreciative of all of the care and attention from so many.
Charitable contributions in his memory may be sent to: Hearts & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center in Loveland, CO http://www.heartsandhorses.org/; The Humane Society of Weld County or a charity of one’s choice. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
