He was born May 20, 1949 to Wilbert Sievers and Alice Swanson Sievers in Cherokee, Iowa. He was raised in the family farm in Newell Iowa and graduated from Newell-Providence High School in 1967.
Leon entered his military services in 1969 and after 2 years of service was honorably discharged. After his discharge he moved to McCook Nebraska where he attended McCook community college. It was in McCook where he met and married Jeanne Browning on November 23rd, 1973. Together they raised their 3 children Chad, Jennifer, and Missy.
Leon spent many years as a registered land surveyor and Wright away agent for Weld County where he retired after 15 years of service.
Leon's passion was spending many hours in his garage building his airplane. He enjoyed spending time with family and grandkids. He also loved cheering for his favorite teams, the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Denver Broncos. Leon is preceded in death by his parents Wilbert and Alice Sievers.
Leon is survived by his wife Jeanne of Greeley, son Chad (Janae) of Aurora, Jennifer Swanson of Greeley, and Missy of Lone Tree, three grandchildren, Hannah of Longmont, Paul and Morgan Swanson of Greeley. Also surviving are his sister's Kay (Greg) Russell and Doreen (Dan) Whithorn, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be September 6th, 2022 at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 2:15 PM.
