Leonard Douglas “Sparky” Sparks, 83, of Evans passed away February 11, 2014 at his home, under Hospice Care. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 10, 1930 to Murrell and Neva (Wilson) Sparks in First View, Colorado.
He married Helen Ward on January 2, 1954. They moved to the Kersey area in 1965, where he worked at Cowen Feedlot and then later at the former P&A Turkey Farm until his retirement. He enjoyed watching the Broncos and spending time with his family. He loved working and driving his tractor and giving his grandkids a ride on it. They were members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greeley.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; six children, Carolyn (Bill) Fuqua of Arizona, Bill (Jody) Sparks of Greeley, Sharon (Monte) Behrens of Evans, Karen (Ted) Herrera of Ault, Jeanie Gay of Texas and Troy Sparks of Kersey; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and five brothers.
Visitation at 5:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday followed by Recitation of the Rosary both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
