

Leta Mayvis Nix Brown, 93, passed away on July 27, 2023 at the Grace Pointe Senior Care Center in Greeley. She was born on January 10, 1930 to John Benjamin and Helen (Johnson) Nix at their home in Eaton, Colorado.
Mayvis graduated from Eaton High School in 1947 and attended one year of college at Colorado A&M. She married Gordon Dewey Brown on December 18, 1948 at the bride’s home in Eaton. While Dewey pursed a degree in Veterinary Medicine, Mayvis worked to provide room and board for other veterinary students.
In 1955, after serving in the Air Force in South Dakota, they moved to Fort Lupton where Dewey started his veterinary career. In 1970, they co-founded the Animal Clinic. Mayvis worked side by side with Dewey as they pursed various agricultural ventures, including sheep, cattle and farming. Mayvis was detail oriented and kept their home office and business records.
Mayvis enjoyed flower gardening and was a member of the Fort Lupton Garden Club. Mayvis served on the Board of Directors of Northern Colorado Medical Center and the Bonnell Advisory Board from 1995 to 2003 concurrently. She was an active member of First Baptist Church (1st Street Church) in Fort Lupton for 68 years, serving in a variety of areas, including treasurer. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Mayvis is survived by her children Gayle (Glenn) Cook, Ben (Debbie) Brown, Jenny Smith, Ann Boyd and grandchildren Aaron (Laurie) Cook, Alicia (Al) Anderson, Audra (Matt) Allen, Andrew (Alie) Cook, Molly (Ray) Bredehoft, Katy (Tim) Stasser, Emy (Ed) Diaz, AnnaLee (Brian) Walker, Eric Boyd, Megan (John) Wilson and great-grandchildren Aleena, Dylan, Lila, Bella (Cook), Lydia, Lynnea (Anderson), Kegan, Kaleb, Kristen (Allen), Cooper, Lily (Cook), Caroline, Ben (Bredehoft), Dakota, Kyla, Hallie (Strasser), Paige, Drew Emy, Kenneth, Nicholas (Walker), Travis, Everett, Kate, Becca (Wilson) and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Gordon Dewey Brown, brother, Jean Nix, and two sisters, Marcelyn Brown and Joyce Cook.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Eaton Community Church at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian Veterinary Mission, PO Box 5888, Lynwood, WA 98406-5888 or cvm.org
