Longtime Kenai resident, Mrs. Linda S. Brower - Guffy, 59, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna after a long battle with cancer.
Mrs. Brower was born September 7, 1951 to John and Helen Brower in Greeley, Colorado. Linda graduated from Greeley Central High School in 1969 and spent the next 25 years in the financial field. She moved to Alaska in 1980 working at the Alaska State Bank, Key Banks and Wells Fargo. She loved gardening and her garden.
Her husband wrote, “Linda was the love of my life and will be greatly missed by not just family members, but all who knew her. She was a fighter and battled cancer till the very end.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Jr. and her sister, Coleen Galvin.
She is survived by her husband, Clark Guffy of Kenai, AK; son, John Guffy of Kenai, and daughter, Kim Guffy; step-son, Jarett Guffy and step-daughter, Kris Weaver; sisters, Diane Rehmer of Greeley, CO, Sharon Jolly of Oregon and Betty Lloyd of Greeley, CO and numerous grandchildren.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Linda to the American Cancer Society, 3851 Piper Street Ste. U240 Anchorage, Alaska 99508.
