Lora Bowerman, 81, of Greeley died October 26, 2011 at North Colorado Medical Center. She was born October 15, 1930 to Archie Howard and Lola Lucille (Lamb) Lueninghoener, in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up in Onawa, Iowa attending schools in nearby Whiting. In 1942, the family moved to Staples, Minnesota and later moved to Sedalia, Missouri. She graduated from Smithton High School in Smithton, Missouri. After graduation, she lived in Onawa, where she met Don Bowerman. On January 31, 1953, they were married in Missouri Valley, Iowa by Don’s uncle, Reverend Lawrence Mead. After their marriage, they moved to Greeley, where she worked as a nurse’s aide at Weld County General Hospital (now North Colorado Medical Center). She later worked cleaning houses in Greeley for Dr. Darst and others.
Lora enjoyed church choir, chorus, band, orchestra and music in general while growing up. She was a Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan. She enjoyed bowling with the neighborhood bowling group for many years. Lora loved working in her yard. She was a member of 4-H during her youth and volunteered as a 4-H leader for 10 years. She loved all animals, especially horses, dogs and caring for her daughter’s cats. Don and Lora enjoyed traveling and had traveled coast to coast a couple of times. She loved her family, husband, daughter, and son-in-law very much.
She is survived by her husband, Don; her daughter, Donna Coble and her husband, Rod of Greeley; a brother, Howard (Dory) Lueninghoener of New Augusta, Mississippi; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 31, at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 1, at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
