With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Louis Morse Kimball, age 97, on Saturday February 1, 2025. Lou was born July 7, 1927, in Greeley, Colorado to Bernice Morse Kimball and George Kimball. Lou and his family were long-time natives of Greeley.
Lou graduated from Greeley High School, although, he missed the graduation ceremony as he had enlisted in the military at age 17, with a permission letter from his parents. Lou served in the Navy during World War II as a medic stationed at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA.
After being honorably discharged from the military, he met the love of his life, Audrey Sennett, whom he married in 1949. They had three children, Kathy Kay, Kent Sennett, and Kim Ann.
Lou had a long and distinguished career (42 years) working at the Greeley post office, following in the footsteps of his dad, his grandfather, and his great grandfather.
Lou and Audrey spent many happy adventures with their three children in Canada and Mexico, as well as snow skiing, camping, fishing and enjoying time at the treasured family cabin in Glen Haven. After retirement, Lou and Audrey traveled to many countries, but enjoyed the winter sunshine of Arizona every year, making a number of cherished friends.
Lou had an extraordinary ability to create and fix almost anything. This inspired his family to be life-time learners and creators, and to have a positive attitude toward tackling life's challenges.
Lou was a specialist at rolling with the waves of life. He was a life-time learner and looked forward to the next project or next adventure. He was full of life, enjoying the moment at hand. As he slowed down, he became a quiet, gentle soul who liked everyone and always welcomed anyone to join him for a sip of bourbon at his daily happy hours. Cheers to a life well lived!
Lou is survived by his two children Kent Kimball (Patty), Kim Paulsen (Eric), and his son-in-law, Chuck. He built, with his wife Audrey Kimball (also deceased), a great family which now boasts 7 grandchildren and 9 (soon to be 10) great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Audrey of 53 years, and his daughter, Kathy Senig.
A Celebration of life will be held on February 17th at Macy Allnutt Funeral Home; 6521 W 20th St, Greeley, CO 80634. There will be a viewing at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 and reception immediately following.
