Lovina was born April 8, 1933 to Helena and John D. Regehr in Winton, California. She was the youngest of nine children.
She enjoyed an active childhood in central California, then moved with her family in her early teens to picturesque northern Idaho. In her late teens she traveled to Michigan, where she met Frank Buerge. They married, and gave birth to their first daughter, Bonita. The family returned to northern Idaho, where Jason and RoseAnne were born. The family later moved to Colorado, living in the surrounding area of Greeley. Lovina also lived for a number of years with her second husband, John Severson on the western slope of Colorado in the town of Collbran.
Lovina would obtain her Licensed Practical Nursing degree and then an associate degree in business. She worked as a nurse her entire career. The last 20 of those years were as a cardiology nurse and office manager. After retiring from nursing she served in ministry as a Christian counselor.
She loved the changing of the seasons, flower gardening, cooking and baking traditional family recipes, birdwatching, horses, and cars with horsepower! She was a voracious reader. Lovina was most importantly a faithful follower of Jesus. She was always active in church, singing a beautiful alto harmony in choir, attending and teaching Bible Studies and she was committed to praying for others.
Lovina Mae Regehr was preceded in death by her parents and all eight siblings, her first husband and father of her children, Frank Buerge, and her second husband, John Severson.
Lovina is survived by three children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They include her daughter Bonita (husband Kurt Hagemeister), son Jason Buerge (wife Debra), daughter RoseAnne Sather (husband David). Her two grandchildren, grandson Zach Fetterolf (wife Danielle), granddaughter Lara Metcalf (and husband Bryon). Also, two great grandsons; Jet Fetterolf and Dash Fetterolf, and one great granddaughter Everleigh Metcalf. She is also survived by countless other extended family members, and dear friends.
