99, of Greeley
Lucille Miller Howard, 99, of Greeley, went to be with the Lord April 13, 2014. She was born November 30, 1914, to Joseph and Mae Sanford Miller on their farm northeast of Greeley where she lived until her marriage to Oliver Howard, February 23, 1936.
They were both members of two pioneer families who came to the Union Colony when Greeley was founded in the 1870’s
Lucille attended Peter Brown Elementary School and graduated from Gill High School in 1932. She and Oliver were high school sweethearts. They lived on the Wellington Howard farm north of Gill for the first five years and then moved to their own farm in the Pleasant Valley in 1941.
She enjoyed being a partner with her husband and raising their seven children there until Oliver’s death in 1973. Children are Gary (Yvonne) Howard, Alaska, Joe (Royce) Howard, Greeley; Wayne (Kris) Howard, Greeley, and Martha (Mark) Hendrickson, Greeley; and daughter in law Susan Howard, Minnesota. She has 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Oliver, and her children Margaret Mae and James Lynn (deceased in 1950) and Charles Alan (deceased 2006).
She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Mother’s Club, Gill D.G.D. Club, and Eaton Evangelical Free Church. She was treasured by all her friends and neighbors.
Lucille spent many happy hours visiting family, tracing family history, and enjoying her home and yard in Greeley. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
A visitation will be held from 5-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Private interment will be held at Linn Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the EFCA (Evangelical Free Church of America) with Lucille Howard on the memo line, in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 702 13th Street, Greeley, CO 80631. These contributions will go to the training of Latin American Christian leaders, a ministry Lucille has supported for many years.
