Lucille was born in Knob Noster, MO to Maude Alma Ramsey and Harry Elbert Nichols. Lucille was the middle sibling to Elbert, Glenn, George and Mary Lou Nichols who all have passed before her. Her farm life there was a joy to her, and she always said that every child should be raised on a farm. She was the best gentle guiding light as a daughter, sister, niece, aunt, wife, Mom, Grandma to her large family.
In 1944, she and her husband, Charles Butcher, moved to Upton, WY where she worked hard as a school custodian and cook while raising Cyndi and Chuck. In 1956, they relocated to Fort Morgan, CO. She was everyone’s favorite server at Meyers’ Grill. Thanks to the Johnson brothers, she became a grocery store butcher and clerk which took her to Denver/Westminster and a wonderful career with Albertson’s Food Markets.
After her second husband, Clair “Gus” Morrison, passed away she moved to Greeley, loving her beautiful, new home. She gathered many friends and her family into her fold, telling them all that “I love you with all of my heart”. . . and she truly did. Visiting Angel’s caregivers became an adopted family in the past year and will never be forgotten by the family because of all the skilled, loving care they provided her.
Lucille especially loved time with her family and friends. Weekends with NASCAR races was her passion. She attended a Las Vegas NASCAR rally in Las Vegas shortly after she turned 80 years old and could hold her own with anyone with NASCAR facts. She loved going to Black Hawk with her friends and was a Hand and Foot card whiz with her Wednesday card ladies’ group.
Lucille is survived by her children, Cynthia Butcher Duncan (LG) and Charles (Chuck) Butcher; stepchildren, Yvonne Morrison, Mark Morrison (Ray), Cheryl Morrison Kusler (Don), Raymond Morrison (Sharon), Jeff Morrison (Kristie), Duane Morrison (Jackie); grandchildren: Bart Butcher (Tara), Brad Butcher (Stephanie), Heidi Duncan Frederiksen (Brian), Wade Duncan (Jennifer), Heather Duncan Wetzel (Steve), Karleigh Morrison; 8 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren in her immediate family, several step-grandchildren, neices and nephews.
