Born on July 7, 1935, in Denver, Colorado, Marion was the youngest of three daughters born to Archie Merrich and Thelma Myers. The family lived in various towns throughout Colorado, following her father’s work as a sharecropper. These early years instilled in Marion a deep sense of resilience and family closeness that would define her throughout her life.
In 1958, she married Raymond Edens. Together they shared 39 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on December 7, 1997. Marion and Raymond enjoyed the simple joys of life together—going for long drives, spending quiet evenings at home, and raising their family with love and devotion.
Marion lived a life filled with simple joys and deep love for her family. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, working crosswords, walking, and cheering for the Colorado Rockies at baseball games. After raising her daughters, she worked for a time in retail.
A devoted wife and a loving mother, Marion is survived by her daughters, Donna Edens and Cheri Van Otterloo (Tim); her granddaughters, Charlene Webb (Grady), Jennifer Rauch (Jared), Renee Van Otterloo, and Sydney Van Otterloo; and great-grandchildren, Cole, Adalyn, and Hannah. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond Edens; her parents, Archie and Thelma Merrich; and her sisters, Irene West and Ruth Ann Fahrenbruch.
Marion’s warmth, quiet strength, and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A graveside service for Marion will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W 28th St, Greeley, CO 80634.
