Marjorie graduated from the Presbyterian Nursing School with a Diploma in Nursing, beginning a lifelong calling defined by steady compassion and a generous spirit. She served as a nurse for her entire working career, bringing calm care and genuine empathy to every patient and colleague who relied on her.
Over the years, Marjorie worked across many areas of nursing, including med-surg, surgery, the cancer unit, and the ICU. She also worked between hospitals in Brighton, Greeley, and Denver. Notably, she became the youngest Charge Nurse in Colorado when she received the role. An achievement reflecting both her capability and the trust she inspired in others.
On September 23, 1973, Marjorie married Michael Fergus. In the life they built together, her warmth and happiness were felt most clearly in the time she devoted to those she loved. Whether cross-stitching, reading, or simply being with family, she carried a quiet joy that made ordinary moments feel steady and good.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her mother, Marge Zimmermann, and her father, Patrick Zimmermann. She is survived by her husband, Michael Fergus; her brother, Karl Zimmermann (Geri Zimmermann); her son, Michael Fergus (Trudy Fergus); her daughter, Melissa Fergus; her grandchildren, Colton Fergus, Dakota Hughes, Margaret Fergus (Zack Hickman), Abigail Fergus, Keegan Paulson, and Kade Paulson; and her great grandchildren, Cylas Hughes, Michael Fergus, and Dennis Hughes.
