Mark and Cindy were high school classmates and friends of mine. We shared many happy times, particularly in Marching Band. I can still remember Mark marching down the long parade routes hauling the tuba. Secretly I always felt a little guilty because I was just carrying a piccolo! Cindy was my neightbor and friend.
  I can't recall any time when I saw Mark angry or stressed out. He always had a smile and his easygoing nature in place. 
   I had the honor of being a bridesmaid in their wedding. Cindy and Mark always fit together body and soul. We stayed in touch for a long while in the years afterward by exchanging  Christmas cards and news. I remember seeing pictures of when the boys were born and the ever present happiness and pride on Mark's face.
  Although I haven't seen Mark and Cindy in 39 years, the news of Mark's passing has saddened me deeply. Our friendship seems like the kind in which no matter how much time has passed, we pick up where it was left off. I can't even imagine the depths of emotion Cindy and the family are going through. I'm sending love and support to help them along the way.

I just found out that a coworker of mine passed away earlier this week. I had the pleasure of working with Mark for 3.5 years and for anyone else who knew him, I would like to express my condolences. I will remember the chats that Mark and I would have about school, especially because he obtained his B.S. in physics and his previous studies overlapped with my current studies. I will also remember how Mark had ample empathy for his trauma patients since he himself recovered from a brain injury. He would spend excess time with his TBI patients to help them work through their recovery, and I respect that.

Since it has been years, it might seem even more amazing this memory. When I was young, Cindy & Mark came with the twins to visit grandma Alton. What I remember was how cool the twins were, & how much in love Cindy & Mark looked, if not a little tired. That is quite an impression on a 13-14 yr. old girl, who face it, at that age doesn't see much beyond the next cute boy. That love was there for anyone one to see. I wish for you and your family love and strength in the future, and eventually memories will give you warmth instead of sadness.

Lit a candle in memory of Mark Charles Avery

I have had the pleasure of working with Mark from his first night shift on Post Trauma as his preceptor and co-worker and not long after that was I a witness to the humble spirit that shined upon him.  I remember many stories he shared about his love for his wife and kids that he cherished deeply!  He shared with me his love for motorcycles and how he was able to overcome a head injury from an accident and that was what gave him the drive to want to help others as well.  He always made sure that his patients were well taken care of, not only from a nursing point of view but he bonded well with so many that he treated them like family, not strangers!  I remember our last few conversations he would give me advice about the hurdles of a long lasting marriage, kids growing up and how to cope with my teenagers and looking forward to grandchildren someday!  He always had a smile on his face,the desire to help everyone and make sure we were well caffeinated for the night shift! He truly was an angel on earth that was taken way too soon!! RIP my friend!

We want to express our sincere sympathy for your loss.  We didn't know Mark very well, but we do know and love his son, Ryan.  A wonderful man like Ryan, is a tribute to his father.  Though Mark's life was short, his legacy is long.

I worked with Mark and wanted to share that he was a very caring man who always took the time to say hello and share a smile. My sympathies to Mark's family.

I met Mark at Kodak through another friend (Stan Foos).   I found Mark to be a friendly, honest, caring person when we would chat as we passed in the  hallways.  My condolences and sympathies to his family.

I knew Mark since we were 6 or 7 years old. We went through school and graduated together in 1975. We were both charter members of the Hilton Swim Team when it started. Wow....I can't even say what I'm feeling right now but know this Mark...you will be missed...my memories are reeling today and they are bringing a smile, even as your family and friends mourn your loss....RIP my friend....

That is a beautiful tribute to Mark.  I could see how much he adored little Alexa. He will be watching over all of you with love and pride. His legacy will shine through in the beautiful family that he and Cindy have created!

Truly an amazing guy - full of life and love. I grew up with Mark and his family, good times and great friends. My heart is like mush right now. His memories will be filled with love, fun and even a bit of harmless mischief!!

As another bright star is added to the heavens, we can look up and tell him just how much we love and miss him. Incredible is a great word to describe him and how he touched many lives. 

May Cindy and their families grasp the love and support of family and friends to guide them through this time.

Cathy worked with Mark in Tech Services at Kodak years ago.  Mark was a great person.  You could tell that he loved his wife and children, had a great sense of humor and was a pleasure to work with.  I graduated with Mark's class at CSU.  He had an insatiable drive to learn and grow.  I mean, who would major in physics and stats on purpose??  After a career in manufacturing, he went back to school and applied his knowledge and skills in nursing.  He told me he wanted to do something that helps people.  He's touched many lives.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I have so many memories of Mark it is difficult to think of just one. Mark loved his family with all his heart and was thrilled to be a grandpa. He put his woodworking skills to use building a gorgeous bassinet for that precious little girl. Anyone who has worked with Mark knows what a great nurse he was, not only coworkers will tell you this but his patients will too. Mark gave everything he did 110%. My thoughts and prayers are with Marks wife and kids during this time. My heart truly goes out to you! Mark, we love and miss you already. Gone way too soon.

Mark was one of our favorite customers at Sears Trostel Lumber and we will miss him.  Not only was Mark a wonderful customer, but also a friend.  Actually, Mark was one of the first people I told I was pregnant.  He was shopping for lumber, and when we were in the warehouse, looking at all the beautiful lumber options, I just blurted out something like, ""Mark, I'm pregnant!"" He was so excited for this extremely nervous pregnant lady.  And then Mark reassured me that being a parent is amazing, as he shared with me some of his remarkable parenting memories.  What a great guy. Mark will be greatly missed; my thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mark always had a smile, he never said ""no"", always, always willing to help.  He led by example and carried joy fully in his heart.  His love for his family was so very evident if you if you listened for even a minute.  Peace to you, Mark, you will be missed.

I often saw Mark in the SICU very early as I would round, starting my day as he was ending his. He always greeted me with a smile, eager to share the night events and help me to formulate a plan for the day for each of the patients in his care. I was always amazed at how positive he was even when tired and how much he loved being a nurse. I don't know that I ever remember him having a bad shift. He was a tremendous nurse and colleague and will be forever in our hearts and in the hearts of those he cared for over the years. I am a better person for having known you Mark and I will endeavor to take the many things I learned from you and use them to help make me a better person and a better Nurse. You will be missed my friend.

Had the pleasure of attending nursing school with Mark. I remember him as always being a kind, gentle fellow with an incredibly warm smile. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

What a beautiful tribute to a spectacular individual.  His life was a testimony of what hard work and love can bring a man.  Mark blessed everyone who knew him.  He will be missed - but that is a sign of how much he loved and how much he was love.  Our prayers are with Cindy, Ryan, Meagan, Brad, Brenda, John and Alexa.  May the Lord comfort you. Mark was a genuine role model in every sense of the word.

He was all business when he was working, and a very private person. On those occasions when he did speak about his family and the latest ""project"" or vacation outing, it was with such love and pride, there was no doubt as to who were the most important people in his life. Especially, that precious grandbaby.
