Martha M. Sweigard (Blair) of Greeley passed peacefully December 5, 2021. She was born on December 8, 1936 to Charles and Anna Blair of Buckingham, CO. Martha married Robert C. Sweigard in 1955. They built a life for their four children by traveling the world for Robert’s 20 year service in the army. They then settled in California until they retired to Greeley in 1989. Martha and Robert were married for 51 years until his death in 2006.
Martha was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Order of the Amarannth. She hosted international students in her home for many years. She was a generous woman who fiercely loved her family. She often opened her home to traveling friends and family who needed a meal or a place to sleep during their journey. Martha valued good work ethic and encouraged others to choose happiness.
Martha leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Dorothy Sklar, children Calvin Sweigard (deceased) Lora Cox, Larry Sweigard, and Karen Kellogg: 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours for Martha will be held Thursday, December 16 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th Avenue in Greeley, Colorado. A funeral service will occur Friday, December 17 at 12:00 pm at Stoddard as well. An interment will occur Friday, December 17 at 1:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3400 W. 28th Street in Greeley. A reception will be held at the Century Masonic Lodge at 2532 9th Avenue after the service.
