

Mary E. Baldwin, 95, of Lakewood, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2016 at Grace Pointe Assisted Living Facility in Greeley, CO. She was born on January 23, 1921 in New York City to Bernard and Katherine (Sharkey) McGreevy. She married John F. Baldwin on February 4, 1950 in Bronx, NY. John died in 2008.
Mary graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan and went to work as an administrative assistant for the British Ministry and later, for the advertising department of The New York Times. She left the workforce to marry and raise her family. When the children were older Mary went back to school and earned an Associate’s Degree from Brookdale Community College. She then pursued a career as a social worker for the Hazlet Dept. of Health and the Monmouth County Board of Social Services.
Upon retiring, Mary and her husband moved from Hazlet to the Lions Head Woods Adult Community in Lakewood. There she made wonderful friends and participated in many of the community activities including the musical revues, the book club, and the dart league. She was an eloquent writer and many friends and relatives cherished the letters which they received from her.
She is survived by her sons Daniel (Jo Ann) Baldwin, John David Baldwin, Peter (Myrna) Baldwin, Stephen (Susan) Baldwin; daughters Maureen (Frank) Flood, Regina Baldwin and Elizabeth (Glenn) Davis; as well as seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John Baldwin; brother Joseph McGreevy; and sisters Catherine Dougherty and Agnes McGreevy.
There will be a Funeral Liturgy at the Church of St. Dominic, Van Zile Road, Brick on May 13, 2016 at 10am. Internment will take place at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Miryam Ministry, c/o Sally Buecker, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, NJ 08724.
