I attended the celebration of your Mother's life and wanted the family to know what an excelent service it was. She has to be very proud. Kim, you did so well.  You left me thinking how sometimes a death can show us life.  I didn't know your Mom very long.  I worked out with her at the CSU adult fitness.  You didn't have to know her long to know the person she was.  My condolences to you all.

Beautiful day, beautiful service, beautiful life, beautiful person.  Kim, your eulogy on behalf of the children was a painting in brilliant water colors.  
About 1999, I brought a Mexican heather plant to the office and Mary Jane ""overwintered"" it in the sunny library.  That silly plant littered the shelf daily with bright blue petals.  Being herself, Mary Jane picked up and saved each tiny petal in a flask.  I saved that flask and this January we relived a simple joy.
Kim and Kris talked recently of the great experience in getting to know Mary Jane's 'extended family' the last months. Please know, that Mary Jane's 'extended family' was equally gifted in getting to be close to the 'real thing'.  
As perhaps the only guy at the service who has actually read Mary Jane's favorite book (""Simple Abundance""), I know she lived it.  And, I simply want to acknowledge the obvious: living a part of my life with Mary Jane made me a better person.  Therein, she lives.

Mary Jane and I met through Community Bible Study.  We found that not only did we have our faith in common, but we shared similar life experiences.  We talked weekly when she was a member of the group that I facilitated with CBS.  Her calm spirit always charmed me.  Her genuine love for others, and her selflessness served as a model for me.  I loved knowing her and have been blessed by her love for her children, stories about their lives, and the wisdom in helping me love and cut the apron strings with my own.  I look forward to the day that we are reunited, dear friend.

I have been thinking of you all day and wishing that I could have been there for the memorial service. Mary Jane was a dear friend. I can't look out my kitchen window without thinking of her and the good times that we shared. They are treasured memories. I remember especially the conversations we shared about the day Kris and Sean were engaged and the giggles we had over that special event! You gave her a great gift in your devotion and care these last few months. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

Chris, Kim Sean, Sean and Kevin.  I'm sorry I did not get to speak to you at the sevice.  It was loving and touching.  I too loved hearing the loud organ music and looking at the stained glass.  What I would have said is that I believe your mother is an incredible hero and extraordinary person in that she produced such a family!  That was your mom's gift to me--to get acquainted with you.  I have the stained glass angel hanging in the window over my kitchen sink and I think of her every day and give thanks that she was in my life.  I got a hug and a giggle from Erin and that was all I really needed today.  I hope I get to see you again sometime and I thank you for including me in the graveside services. To Mary Jane's dear family,
I had the pleasure of meeting Mary Jane through the marriage of my son, Sean, to Kristine. Although we met and connected later in life, I felt very close to her. She immediately reached out to me as a friend and embraced my son as one of her own. 
I witnessed her courage and soul-searching when faced with the challenge of cancer. Her openness to all possibilities was refreshing, and her love of life was inspiring. 
She took great pride in the outstanding and noble traits of all of her children and, in her humble way, shied away from taking credit for this. My observation is that much of who she was lives on in them - the caring, inquisitive, deeply soul-searching, responsible, and open-hearted qualities that they have assimilated and integrated into themselves in unique and individual ways.
I have the utmost gratitude and admiration for the countless ways she contributed to the world.

Kim & Kris, you'd be amazed at how often I think of you, the Burdettes, the Caylors, the Beaches, and all the other twins at FBCB.  All four of you kids helped make our ministry there some of the best years of our lives. Your mom had a part in that too.
We're now at Grace Harbor in Sitka, AK, a congregation of about 220.  It is a gorgeous place.  If you ever make it up this way, be sure to look us up.

Our friendship with her goes back to when we were growing up in Fort Collins, especially high school and CSU where Janie and Judy were Tri Delta sorority sisters.  Janie faced the end of her life with such dignity and grace and is a true inspiration.  She was a kind and gentle person and we'll all miss her very much.

It is comforting to read others notes  and know that our sadness is shared by others.  We know Janie was loved and admired by many.
 She has been in our lives since we were all in junior high school- over 50 years ago. We have wonderful memories of her in highschool, college and our paths have crossed often in the years since then.

Mary Jane taught me so much about the importantance of kindness and sincerity. There was never a single day that I didn't look forward to seeing her smile and to have something to tell her about my girls - because she always wanted to know what was going on in their lives. I feel so very blessed to have been in the same place at the same time with MJ so that our paths would cross for such a long and wonderful time.

Mary Jane was the ""favorite"" cousin of the Morton brothers. She was always ready to help a family member with sincerity and cheerfulness. Doug, my husband and Mary Jane's cousin, spoke for an hour to her about a month ago. They shared so much, shed some tears, and finished their business. Mary Jane had no fences to mend---she was already loved and respected by everyone who met her.

I met Mary Jane about twelve years ago through her friend Marcia Dawdy.  We had a great time laughing, having lunch and sharing stories about our children. She was a great friend and a lovely woman !  We now have another  ""angel"" watching over us !

I loved Mary Jane.  She was so beautiful, sweet, and thoughtful.  She was the oldest of the cousins, 6 years older than me.  As a kid, I was enthralled with her.  We moved to California when I was about 10 and I was not much in touch with her until about 10 years ago.  She had moved back to Ft. Collins, Dad was in a rest home there, and my brothers and I were flying in when possible to see how he was.  Mary Jane looked in on him and kept us informed about how he was doing.  When we visited Dad, we spent time with Mary Jane whenever we could, some times sleeping at the Mag House, just like we did when we were kids. What a beautiful soul, Mary Jane. I really loved her.

I will always remember Mary Jane's warm smile and kind and gentle spirit.  She lives on in those who were lucky enough to know her.

Mary Jane was one of the best people I have ever had the honor of sharing time with. We are all better off for having known her. We miss you MJ!

Mary Jane was a loving and cheerful friend who never failed to understand and care about the lives of others even during her final days. She was an extraordinary person that we were honored to know.  We will miss her greatly.

I am very grateful that I was given the opportunity to know Mary Jane.  She always had a smile on her face and was so upbeat about life.  She spoken often about her family and how much she loved and enjoyed them.

Words cannot begin to describe what a warm and gracious person Mary Jane is. Though I only worked with Mary Jane a short time here at the USGS FORT (she was retiring as I was just being hired) I feel as though I know her very well through the numerous times her name has been brought up these last two years.  Mary Jane continues to leave a great impression as to the sharing and respected person she?'s well known for. My heartfelt sympathies to her family and loved ones.

My thoughts are with the family all of you who have been so close to Mary Jane these past years during her battle with cancer.  I met Mary Jane about seven years ago through Show Stoppers and immediately noticed how warm and friendly she was.  I admired how she looked at the bright side of things, her strong faith and interest in others.  She was a lovely lady and so gracious. Remembering that distinct giggle of hers makes me smile. I am very saddened to hear of the passing of your loved one.  My husband and I met Mary Jane in May/June while they were each receiving chemo.  She and I were surprised to learn that we were both at Colorado State U. at the same time and even in the marching band together yet we did not know one another until cancer had paths crossing.  To visit with her about mutual college experiences as in band, mutual friends and acquaintances was a warm fuzzy and I feel so blessed to have had the time with her.
