Mary Nell Boone Goldsby

Mary Nell Boone was born June 8, 1927 in Humboldt, TN, to William Carl Boone and Flora Jackson Boone. She graduated as Valedictorian of the class of 1945 from Humboldt High School and worked at Western Union in Lebanon, TN and the E. L. Bruce Company in Memphis. She married Donald L. Goldsby in 1948, raising her stepsons, Donald L. Goldsby, Jr. and Robert P. Goldsby. In January, 1950 their daughter, Linda, was born in Memphis, TN. Don’s civil service career took them to Norman, OK (Tinker AFB) and New Orleans, LA (Naval Support Facility) while they raised their family. She and Don also lived in Meridian, MS, Panama City, FL, Cedar Key, FL, and Arlington, TN. Don’s health declined in 1974 and they retired to Fort Myers, FL. Don passed away in 1984. Mary worked for the State of Florida WIC Program, retiring in 1997 and moving to Fort Collins, CO to be near her daughter and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda White, son-in-law John White, of Fort Collins, CO; son Robert P. Goldsby of Destin, FL; grandson Stephen White and wife Vanessa, great-grandchildren Philip and Breanne, of Fort Collins, CO; Alita, Natalie, and Seth White of Cape Vincent, NY and grandson Preston Goldsby.

She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, and two brothers, Alfred and Harry Boone. She was also preceded in death in 2011 by her grandson, Kenneth Ryan White, U. S. Army, when he was KIA in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.

No memorial services are planned. Mary will be cremated and her ashes buried next to Don in Big Creek Cemetery, Millington, TN.
