Mary Ellen Hood

Estes Park resident Mary Ellen Hood died at home with her family by her side on Monday November 28, 2016. She was 84 years old. Mary Ellen Vandewiele was born December 26, 1931 in Durango, CO. Her parents were Felix and Annie (Ball Harris) Vandewiele. She graduated from Nursing School at Children’s Hospital and was a Registered Nurse at Children’s in the 1950’s, then as an office nurse in South west Denver for several years. On April 10, 1953 she married Donald Hood in Dixon, IL. The couple lived in Littleton, CO, Denver, Greeley, CO and Longmont, CO before retiring to Estes Park in 1994. Mrs. Hood was a member of Mountain View Bible Fellowship. She is survived by her husband Donald of Estes Park, sons Gary and his wife Jill of Loveland, CO, Kenneth and wife Lori of Phillipsburg, MT, Gregory and wife Susan McLean of Longmont, and daughter Linda Hood of Greeley, CO. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and a brother Felix Vandewiele of Idaho Falls, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister 5 half brothers and a half sister. A memorial service will be held Saturday December 3, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Mountain View Bible Fellowship.
