Mary Jean Mueller

Mary was born on December 29, 1931, in Norton, Kansas, to Leo and Helen (O’Connor) Donovan. She moved from Denver to Greeley in 1961, where she made her home and built a life centered around family and faith.

Mary married Larry L. Mueller in Loveland, Colorado, in 1971. She dedicated 28 years of her career to the Colorado Department of Transportation, where she worked as an executive staff assistant retiring.

More than anything, Mary loved her family. She treasured having everyone together and made every effort to gather her family as often as possible. Even as getting everyone together became more difficult throughout the years, those moments remained incredibly important to her.

Mary had a strong catholic faith and loved her church. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, traveling, and gardening. She was a talented horseshoe player and bowler and enjoyed both throughout the years.

Mary is survived by her children, Steve Knockerbocker, Dan Knickerbocker, Kathy Paulmeno, Andy Mueller, and Matt Mueller; grandchildren, Jenny Knickerbocker, Eric Knickerbocker, Taylor Knickerbocker, Grace Knickerbocker, Daniel Paulmeno, Andrea Orr, John Mueller and Megan Ortiz; and great-grandchildren, Mally Knickerbocker, Silas Orr, Wyatt and Hadley Mueller and Milana Ortiz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Helen Donovan; her siblings, Ben Donovan, Anna Lee Forgey, Patricia McLean, and Jim Donovan; and her son, Mark Mueller.

Mary will be remembered for her deep love of family, her faith, and the joy she found in bringing the people she loved together.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Greeley, Colorado.
