Maxine H. Simpson, 95, of Greeley passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024 in Silver City, New Mexico.

She was born on June 12, 1928 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Harriet Cecilia Oliver and Clark Clayton Redman.

Maxine was raised and attended schools through high school in Tucumcari and Las Vegas, New Mexico graduating with honors.

Maxine met Frank Simpson in Tucumcari and they married in Amarillo, Texas on December 28, 1943. They were married for 72 years.

She and her husband were founders of Merry Mixers Square Dance Club of Greeley, Colorado in 1952 and taught many classes to new dancers in their basement. For many years Maxine was active in Girl Scouts in a variety of leadership roles. Maxine was also active in Eastern Star. In her later life, she and Frank volunteered for the US Forest Service. A favorite pastime was crafting with family. A family cabin was built in the late 1970's. Many wonderful memories were made and continue to be made at the cabin that was built with love.

In the 1960's Maxine worked for Mountain Bell as a switchboard operator. In the late 1960's Maxine established one of the early female owned businesses in Greeley. Colorado Calico provided magazine services to schools, offices and individuals across the United States. The company continues to exist today.

Maxine is survived by her three daughters: Francine (Bill) Dixon of Silver City, New Mexico, Harriet Ann Simpson of Greeley, Colorado, and Linda (John) Rulla also of Greeley, Colorado; eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Simpson.

A Visitation for Maxine will be on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Stoddard Funeral Home. Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2024 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church followed by Interment as Sunset Memorial Gardens and fellowship at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Alzheimer's Foundation in care of Stoddard Funeral Home.
