Melba D. Ikenouye, 78, of Greeley, died January 7, 2013 at her home. She was born April 3, 1934 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Arlie and Goldie (Cheary) Briggs. She attended school in Greeley. Melba Married Herbert Ikenouye on July 1, 1950 in Brighton.
Melba was owner of Melba Custom Drapery and Upholstery from 1973 – 2009. Melba was a 4-H leader for many years.
Melba was a dedicated wife and mother. She took pride in her marriage of 62 ½ years. Melba had a patient, loving and caring nature. She was a strong and creative woman. She enjoyed her rock and flower gardens.
Melba is survived by her husband Herbert; daughters Karen (Steve) Howard of Wauneta, Nebraska, Teresa (Charles) Hall of Leesville, Louisiana, and Martha (Robert) Masden of Hudson, Colorado; sons Gerald (Barbara) of Newbury Park, California and Kenneth (Sandra) of Greeley; sisters Arlene Dieterle of Hill City, South Dakota, Zelma Westover of Denver and Joyce (Wallace) Burns of Springfield, Missouri; brothers Glenn (Maryann) Briggs and Wayne (Onita) Owens all of Springfield, Missouri; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Roy Briggs, and sisters Margaret Hepner and Wilmeta Sheretz.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2013 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
