That gorgeous smile and laugh will always be stuck in my mind. My big sister forever. I love you til the end of time mia mia.

For those who don't know me, my name is Tianna, and Mia was my cousin. For me, she was more than that. She was my big sister. I would like to start off with a quote before anything. Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go. 

Mia was a free spirit who was full of love, and she loved with every fiber of her being. She was the embodiment of love. Anytime I was around Mia, she always had good energy and love to give. She was always willing to help out those in need and speak up on subjects that she felt passionate about. She wanted the best for everyone. She never made me feel out of place or ashamed to be myself, in fact she was a safe space for me where I could unapologetically be my authentic self. If I ever needed anything, she was there. Even if she couldn’t be there in person, she was just a phone call away ready to talk and listen.

Mia always lived life to the fullest and loved with her whole heart. It’s unfortunate that such a beautiful soul like hers was taken so soon. Now, she is at peace, and has been reunited with a part of her heart: Lola. For those who don't know, Lola was Mia's dog who passed. I like to imagine with the free spirit that Mia was, that she’s up in heaven reunited with her Lola, and the two of them are running through endless fields of wildflowers enjoying each other's company.

Even though Mia is no longer here with us like we are used to, I believe she will always be with us all around in spirit, no matter where we are. There will be things that will remind us of her, whether it’s the music playing somewhere, pieces of art you think she would like, or the views of nature where Mia liked to be, just know that is her way of saying hello.

Mia touched our lives in ways we never knew until we reflect. She had a way about her where she left a little bit of herself with you when she left the room. Her nature was free. She brought joy into the lives of everybody she met. A person like her is very unique and if we are lucky enough to be blessed with knowing her we are left a better person for knowing her.  

Last night as I struggled to find what I wanted to say, a friend  from the Dine. That is the true name for the Navajo She told me of a story when she was a child of the death of her grandfather, who was a strong medicine man, and she couldn’t understand why nobody was crying, and her grandmother explained that he is truly not gone, but he’s just passed on to another plane of existence. You see in Navajo culture, there isn't a direct translation for the word "goodbye." This reflects a belief that relationships and connections continue beyond physical separation. Instead of a final farewell, they use phrases like hágoónee, which roughly translates to "until we meet again" or "I will see you later". This term emphasizes the enduring nature of relationships and the expectation of future encounters.

Mia was my first friend after my family moved to Colorado. We shared a backyard fence together and would climb onto it and sit and talk and laugh for hours. I have so many fun memories of all of us together. My sister, myself and Mia wreaked absolute havoc on our neighborhood and were basically inseparable for years. She was the funniest person I’ve ever met, she was so kind and had the biggest heart. Although through the years we drifted apart, every time we talked it was as if no time had gone by at all. 

My family and I are sending all of our love and light to Dstry, LeNora, Xavier, and the rest of Mia’s family today and every day. We love you Mia, we will miss you.

I will always remember Mia as such  a  bright light  that brought such joy and happiness to every one she met.  Mia always lit up any room she walked into.  I will always think of Mia with a smile .  Condolences to Dstry, LeNora, Xavier and all the family.  We love you Mia.

I will always remember Mia as a carefree yet untamed soul. When we were young, I recall the weeping willow, the house where we stood on the roof together, the day I decided to put on boxing gloves to play-fight with Mia, and of course our late night hide and seek excursions with our other cousins.

As an adult, sometimes we forget to acknowledge the way the people in our lives had an impact on us. That was Mia for me.

Where Mia went, she shined a light in the room. Any tension or discomfort was washed away in an instant. Her smile will never be forgotten for the warmth and brightness she brought, despite what she might have been going through. Her spirit will live on as fierce, adventurous, and fun. 

Much like the sun, that’s how I saw Mia—as I’m sure how many others saw her too. And still do. As the days go on, the sun keeps shining, even behind the clouds or when we can’t see it at night. And as the sun shines and the days go on, I’ll continue to believe she’s there. With a set of boxing gloves and all.

We didn’t get see Mia to often however, the few times that we did. She was and will always be that beautiful, crazy, caring, nurturing, soul.

From what my sister Nori recently shared with me. Mia was always willing to defend and help those in need. She didn’t like for anyone to feel pain, sorrow or loneliness.

She knew and knows her gift and that gift was and is the power of being an EMPATH. EMPATHS have the ability to read and feel the energy and emotions of people, especially a person right in front of them.  Empaths are also extremely sensitive to animals, creation, their surroundings, and world events.

Despite Mia leaving us so soon, may we be comforted to know, our Mia has left this physical realm and stepped into the radiant light, and love, of our Lord Jesus.

May your spirit now rest  in the Lord’s eternal light, glory, love, and tenderness. We will all see you again in Eternity.

I met Mia in the MySpace era, we would go back and fourth with our best freestyles, we connected over music and hip hop culture (underground of course) always trying to find those hidden gems to share with each other, and that blossomed into an unforgettable friendship! 
  I won’t forget all the times just driving around trying to memorize lyrics and the summer we ate subway literally everyday because you were obsessed with sandwiches haha or the time you came to my apartment after a night out looking like Lloyd Christmas with a chipped front tooth lol I don’t think anyone could of pulled off that look other than you! 
  There are so many countless memories I will never forget, Mia was a mover, a maker and a shaker, she moved everyone she met with her energy and presence, she made everyone laugh without ever trying, and she shook up this boring planet on a daily! 
  I just want to thank you for being YOU and making this world a better place! Even though you’re gone now you have left your imprint on me for a lifetime. I will cherish all the good times we had. Rest easy to an absolute LEGEND! I will miss you everyday little rad riding hood!

If I could I would relive it one last time to see your beautiful smile and hear that laugh again my friend. I’m so grateful to meet you dude. There was so many  memories of us always laughing, joking around you always scaring me because I’m so jumpy. What kept us together is when we would be jamming out to so many music genres from hip hop to rock then to oldies like Selena we both love Selena and we would have our own concert singing “como la flor” also doing the shmoney dance with you I remember telling you to stop the car singing, “about a week ago week ago!” And did the shmoney all I remember was you laughing so hard and smiling so big. You’re the reason why I got to Eddie Zuko cause of the song “la flor” as well as Mexican OT “barrio”. When we seen each other at Ramirez I remember looking for you and it was easy to find you there  cause of your red fiery hair when I seen you all I remember was that big beautiful smile and saying, “B!” because we haven’t seen each other for years and gave each other a big hug cause I missed you and all we did was talked through the night till Ramirez came on. I won’t forget that memory.  I have that video of you dropping in at the skatepark on the board because you wanted to skate I gave you one of my boards and you asked me if I wanted your longboard I’ll still have it and ride it to this day. Thank you for coming into my life. You are loved by so many. My heart goes out to the family and I’m super grateful of knowing Mia! I love you my mija! -B ❤️

Mia. My girlfriend not. We’ve been intertwined in each other’s lives for over a decade and it’s been filled with non stop music, belly laughs, obsessing over our outfits and jewelry, and most importantly, seeing each other through the light and the dark. You had this way of taking complex emotions and making those feelings and the people attached to them be seen in a way I’ve never experienced. You dropped everything to be with me when my mom died and continued to keep her memory alive with me. You are truly the most unique person I’ve come across.

I’ve been replaying the reels of our memories and my favorite is the last show we went to that both of us were on the verge of bailing cause we were both moody and it was a full moon - but we rallied. At the show someone was crop dusting us and you were loudly saying they needed to get their stomach checked and you be eating good at your house and that should not be happening. And then we geeked out over the merch and got to meet the lead singer of the opener and then magically got let into the VIP section and we started running through to get close to the stage and I remember that smile on your face so vividly as you turned to me and said “the moons not so bad with you”. 

The biggest heart, the literally funniest sassiest red headed freckled cutie, the best gift giver, the baddest b, the most caring soul for all. This world is missing a piece without you here and the devastation is immeasurable. I will be holding all your loved ones and especially your family in my thoughts and prayers.

May angels lead you in my girlfriend not. Your legacy will live on with the love you instilled in all of us. I can’t wait to see you again.

You deserved the world

To Mia’s family and loved ones, I’m so sorry for your unimaginable loss.  My heart breaks with you all.  I only got to hang with Mia a couple of times, and it was immediately clear what a bright light she was.   We clicked right away when we met at a lil get together.  She tried to teach me old school partner dancing and I often think of her spinning me and going “now butt to nuts” and I was just giggling so hard.  We had so much fun that night.  

We met up to watch a Nuggets away game on the championship run, and I’m pretty sure this heart waffle fry had to be part of why we won the ship.

Mia, rest easy mama.  I can see you touched so many people with your beautiful spirit.  I know you’ll be a hardcore guardian angel for everyone you love.   My heart, prayers, and condolences goes to everyone who will be hurting forever from losing Mia way too soon.

My beautiful niece Mia, where do I start. I have so many wonderful memories of you growing up. Your beautiful fiery red hair, infectious smile from ear to ear. The wonderful loving and heartfelt hugs you'd give, your laughter and love would lighten up any family occasions. All the text messages you'd send me on your birthday saying "oh shoot Tio I did it again forgot your birthday." She made it a habit to text me happy birthday on her birthday (our b-days were a day apart). Mia's free spirit and happy personality rubbed off on anyone around her. She will forever be missed.It was truly a blessing to have been your Tio mija. Love you forever and always. Dstry, Lenore, Xavier, My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time .I am absolutely heartbroken. ❤️ My deepest sympathies and condolences go out to everyone in the family.

Mia ........ to say my best friend isn't even close to being able to describe what you are to me. My sista from anutha mista, my ace, my beautiful indigo girl, the other half of my molecule..... the only person who I could be 1500000% my weirdo self with and no judgment. I will never in this lifetime be able to replace or come close to finding your energy and the emptiness that has created in me is the most unimaginable pain I have ever felt. I've spent the last 2 days reading the many years worth of conversations we had, watching videos, looking at all the pictures. This doesn't seem real at all. I could make an entire movie with all the memories man. What the hell am I supposed to do now bro?! How do I even begin to process all of this?!?! Who am I going to call and tell my secrets too?  My drama, the embarrassing shit that everyone would judge me for but we would just laugh until we couldn't breathe. I know I am one of so many people hurting right now struggling to make sense of this horrific reality. You are truly one of a kind and THE MOST beautiful soul inside and out. I love you more than I could have ever put into words. I hope you know that! I remember that day I hugged you and we both paused afterwards and said that was weird as f#%k and we would never do that again 😂😂😂 Well I would do anything to be able to hug you again bro no Diddy 🥲 This world will not be near as bright without you here and a huge piece of me will forever be missing.  I mean how can I even survive without the other half of my molecule?!?! Rest in peace my beautiful angel Mia 💔 I love you SO damn much my G. My entire family is feeling this loss. Mia, my special memory with you is from the Tough mudder. You had just completed the Arctic Enema, I remember how cold you were, and all I could think to do was wrap my arms around you to warm you up and comfort you. You were so brave tackling those challenges, and your talent as an athlete truly shone through. But beyond that, you have such a lovely soul. I will always cherish that moment and remember you fondly. Take care!

I dont even know where to begin. Mia and I went to high school together and played volleyball together. She was truly so bright and funny and lit up the room with her spunk and high spirits. What a truly shocking and devastating event to lose such a beautiful soul. I wish we would have stayed close because we were so close in high school. You will be so deeply missed and condolences to all family and friends.

I met Mia, a couple years ago at the dog park in Westminster. She was the most beautiful person I’d come across, and I shared something similar to her. We were both Hispanic and had fire red hair, it was an unforgettable trait of hers. I’m deeply saddened to see that she has passed, Mia was an amazing person, and she had depth, she was real, down to earth and passionate. Prayers for her family. Rest in peace Mia.

From the moment I met you that afternoon in Fort Collins I knew you were my people. From the way you and I talked about the Bay, our life of music from Debbie Deb, Too $hort, and Kublai Khan , our love for animals, nature, and tacos. You and I grew so close instantly, we shared in heartache and in so much goofiness. I’ll remember you always with that smile cheesin from ear to ear. Love you, por vida.

Mia and I worked together for many years. When I first met her, she was a bright-eyed medical assistant fresh out of school. Over time, I watched her grow into an experienced, capable manager for my medical practice. She truly cared for her patients and was one of those rare individuals who understood what it means to be empathetic in a patient’s time of need. Mia was a joy to be around. In the early days of the clinic, we had plenty of time to sit and chat about everything from spirituality to conspiracy theories to lowrider culture. She believed in karma and always treated others with kindness. I could always count on her for a crazy story, and my daughters loved her silly hot dog costume at Halloween. A free spirit, she was constantly seeking new adventures. Above all, Mia loved her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

A gentle soul, A beautiful spirit, A light of the world and an honor to have been her auntie, forever my Mia roonie❤️‍🔥. I send love and prayers for Lenora, Dstry, Xavier and all family who mourn her.

Lenora and dstry we have lost our beautiful butterfly and I grieve with you.  But know that her spirit will live with us forever.   Everytime we see a butterfly or hear Cheri amor or a Ray of sun shining through the clouds it is her telling us she is ok.  May the Lord bless you both
