Mildred “Millie” Geneva Anthony, 79, of La Salle, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at North Colorado Medical Center. She was born on January 11, 1934, in Eaton, Colorado to Chauncey Elthorpe and Ida May (McIntyre) Carter.
Millie grew up in the Eaton area and attended Ault schools. She graduated from Ault High School in 1952. After graduation, she moved to California, where she worked as a telephone operator. She later returned to Colorado and worked at the University of Northern Colorado for many years.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Ault, Pioneer Post No. 2121 VFW Auxiliary and the La Salle Senior Citizens. She volunteered at Bonell Good Samaritan Center and RSVP of Weld County.
Millie’s hobbies included, crocheting and knitting. She knitted caps for police officers in La Salle and crocheted hats for women battling cancer. She also made afghans for patients at Bonell.
Millie was a very giving and generous person. She loved to grow and can vegetables to share with others. She also enjoyed making and giving away Christmas candy and cookies.
Millie is survived by her brother, C.H. “Bum” Carter of Eaton and numerous nieces and nephews. She was known to her nieces and nephews as “Aunt Tiny”.
She was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers.
Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Borgmann Chapel at Bonell Good Samaritan Center.
