Mildred "Millie" Evelyn Orth, 95, was taken to be with her Lord and Savior, December 20, 2020, and a graveside service was held in her honor and to the glory of God, in Greeley, CO, December 28, 2020. A celebration of her life in Christ will be held at a date to be determined.
She was born October 12, 1925, in Denver, Colorado, lovingly adopted by Fernando D. and Cora Ellen Kennedy, baptized in Christ, and raised with her siblings Ralph Behr (Alice), foster brother, and Freda Kennedy (Rue McCracken), in Woodrow, CO, and graduated Woodrow High School, in 1945. On August 17, 1947, she and Frederick William Orth, Shaw, CO, were married in Akron, CO, and started their family of seven daughters: Audrey Monson (Rick), Centennial, CO; Evelyn Dixon, formerly Gainesville, GA; Marilyn Talboys (Bill), Cave Creek, AZ; Gloria Sills (Jon), Ventura, CA; Beverly Seebach (Helmut), Mainz/Gonsenheim, Germany; Deborah Johnson, Centennial, CO and Cynthia Buitron, Ventura, CA.
In 1953 the family moved to Greeley, CO, where she lived for 55 years. During that time, she worked at Furr’s Cafeteria and Bonell Nursing Home, and after her retirement, moved to Denver, to be closer to family, most recently residing at Someren Glen Skilled Nursing, Centennial, CO.
As a lifelong learner, she enjoyed taking classes at Aims Community College, especially ceramics. Twice a breast cancer survivor, she supported and honored survivors by participating in cancer charity walks. Actively enjoying the outdoors, being raised on a farm herself and raising her children on yet another farm, she appreciated God’s creation, belonging to a hiking club and traveling with her daughters throughout the United States and Europe. Engaging easily and readily with most people, she often had a joke to crack and a smile on her face.
By actions she lived a full life that followed the teachings of Jesus, loved reading and hearing the Word taught, singing songs and hymns, years ago accompanying herself on the piano, and worshipping in the house of the Lord. Actively attending services and activities at Trinity Lutheran Church, Greeley, CO, Faith Lutheran Church, Denver, CO, and Someren Glenn, gave her great joy!
Her family brought her great delight celebrating cherished occasions, holidays and birthdays. She is greatly missed by them and have cherished memories sustaining them in their time of grief. She is survived by all her daughters, except Evelyn; sons-in-law; grandchildren Tonya, Jennifer, Deanna, Michele, Myra, Shauna, Nathaniel, Alexis, Arturo and Alessa; many great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Alice.
She finished her life on earth, strong in faith, with His grace and mercy. I Corinthians 9:24, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run but only one receives the prize, so run that you may obtain it.” Certainly, she owns the ultimate prize of eternal life! Perhaps, II Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” best describes her life in Christ. Praising God that faith gave her strength, hope and perseverance for 95 years!
